The grey squirrels carry a disease that kills the red ones but not the grey ones.
The grey ones eat the food before the red can.
The grey ones are meanies. |

You people make me laugh! They don't belong in the UK, they eat more eggs from the nest of the indigenous song birds than you can imagine but as they have a nice fluffy tail you think they are wonderful. Get in the real world people ! |

there way to get rid of the greys is by introducing a lizard that kills them.
when we are overrun with lizards we will introduce a snake that will kill them.
once we have too many snakes we will introduce a bobcat that will eat the snakes.
then when overrun with bob cats we will shoot the bastards |

"What has Mr Grey done to deserve this dislike "
Believe and apologies if wrong but the red squirrel is native to the uk and grey came possibly from America originally around 1900 and have pushed out the red squirrel so there a few left |

"Grey's are Aussies! They have also nearly wiped the reds out.
Don't get me started on them gray fuckers eating me teracotta pots! oh are they parcial to a bit of terracotta "
Shiny pots they leave alone?
Perhaps terracotta pots are better to nibble on with their teeth?
Just looked up & found out they lick & nibble the pots for salt residue! |

Because gray squirrel was introduced to this country for eating, Grey squirrels generally being much bigger and stockier than reds. Squirrel is a highly sustainable nutritious meat.

My mum had a theory once. We don't belong to the earth. Everything on the earth works in harmony with the ecosystem if we don't interfere. The only thing that doesn't work in harmony is us. |

I've eaten it in a game stew without knowing what it was until afterwards it was very nice, similar to rabbit which is one of the healthiest meats you can eat |

I’ve never seen a red one but I have a lovely grey fella who visits my garden every day. I leave nuts for him and he’s such a cutie. Rightly or wrongly, I really like him and I look forward to his visits. |

According to the anti vegetarian/vegan group "for every animal you won't eat I'm going to eat three" you can eat the gray little critters. Squirrel satay seems like a fitting recipe |

I like all creatures, but tell me you love squirrels when one gets into your roof space. They are a right twat to get out and noisy and destructive creatures. They can easily climb up your render and can keep you awake when or wondering what the fuck is going on. |

The most significant threat associated with grey squirrels is the spread and transmission of a disease called squirrelpox virus (SQPV). It can take only one grey squirrel to introduce this virus to a local population of red squirrels and then the virus can spread throughout the reds with devastating effect.
So there was a policy of kill them on sight, till very recently. |

"Apparently the red squirrel is striving as he is able to evade pine Martins however the grey squirrel isn't canny enough and is getting ripped to shreds " so as I said the grey squirrel had a mainstream education and the red went to Oxford |

A bit hypocrotical of the Pine Martens when they sang about a 'Caravan of Love' |

"Formby has a National Trust Red Squirrel Reserve. There are ten red squirrel colonies in the UK. 7 of them oop north and 2 of tjem on islands. Apparently, Anglesey has just been declared 'grey squirrel' free.
It is thought that some of the red squirrels are grey squirrels in red squirrel suits or they have died their hair red to avoid the anti-grey movement. This would explain the shortage of red hair dye which is mistakenly being blamed on Brexit and no wagon drivers." perfect explanation |
