Its expected... I bake cakes too so if I've made a specific cake I take one in for a happy Tuesday thing.

Its like a plague of locusts though , turn your back and everything is gone

Yeah but I don't bake them. I don't like my work colleagues enough to spend an evening baking. They'll get a shop bought one!

Had never heard of it till was about 30 in a job I worked briefly, I never tell anyone it’s my birthday so never took in cakes. The stonemakers I worked at when young had a different tradition at the end of shift they would hold whoever it was down and apply grease to their balls haha

Everyone brings cakes into work on their birthday, but I’ve convinced everyone I was born on 29th February so I’m good for 4 years then I’ll leave just before it’s my turn to bring mine in.

I'd buy various treats from Sainsburys for everyone but never brought any birthday cake in. That's all mine

No but I'd take in treats as did most other people. It's a nice little way to brighten the day.

Sometimes, but only if it's a national day in the country that I'm working in at the time. In some countries it's expected, but they tend to be the ones with a Teacher's Day, so we get presents (including cake) in return.

I work with a bunch of really unhealthy eaters. There’s cakes in the office for one reason or another on most days. They give me abuse for eating healthy
