Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I'm stuck. I can't get my writing finished until I have a good first line.

Any suggestions? Any classic first lines that I can plagerise?

Fear of change and seeing a task through to the finish (I know...!)

Do the writing and then read it back to create a perfect and fitting first line afterwards

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

That doesn't work for me - unless it's a long report. It's all there waiting to hit the page if I could just get the tone. It may be a first thing in the morning task as I will dream the first line.

My favourite book of all time. This has started a little worm of a thought. Thank you.

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life...

Are you writing profiles ?

If it's for a single bloke you could try 'Once upon a time ....'

If it's for a MF couple you could try 'I command thee .....'

If it's for a single female, meh, why bother ? Just flop ur waps out !

Profile writing is surely your domain? Yours is one of the best.

Thank you. The wisdom of (Fab) crowds worked. First line, a middle and a great last line all written. I'll fill it out in the morning and job done.

Ever so grateful.
