So yesterday I had a few friends over and we had a lovely afternoon. After a few drinks we all thought it would be great to use the hot tub. So here's the issue. I have rules and 1) people before using it have a shower 2) sex is banned in the hot tub. Now that created a debate as one friends said that I was being stupid as the clourine levels would deal with that! Personally I like my hot tub to stay in perfect condition so I take care with it to enjoy it. Am I being stupid and unreasonable? |

Completely agree. And I also ban people from drinking in mine ... broken glass would be a right pain in the arse to have to deal with. Hot tubs are fantastic but they’re not toys. |

Same, but we only have sex in it before we change the water once drained of water then I give it a deep clean. |

We are hot tub owners and we appreciate how Deodorant, perfume, moisturiser, after shave, fake tan etc does mess up the water. The chlorine will only do so much!
As for sex, it's your tub, your rules! We have played in the tub but (Sorry if tmi) only if bodily fluids are swallowed  |

I've never actually been in a hot tub as I've seen and read what some people get up to in them. The very thought of sitting in water like that makes me nauseous.
If everyone had rules like yours I'd probably consider getting in. |

Life is also too short for the hour to empty it, hour to climb in the thing and clean it as well as washing your filters. Then the 4 hours to refill it plus the 24 hours to get back to temperature. Then the time to balance the chemicals again!
You're tub is out of action for a while when it's water change time!!
A pre-shower isn't unreasonable. |

We too are hot tub owners, they cost many thousands of pounds and daily attention to maintain hygienic water conditions.
Your guests should respect that, otherwise don't invite them. The tub is often a pre cursor to full on fun in the bedroom, sex in water isn't all it's cracked up to be actually! It's great for a bit of foreplay but not the main event.
Talc, deodorant, body oil all messes up the water. If the respondent above thinks that a tonne and a half of water heats itself up free of charge, I suggest they don't have a tub! Plenty of memories without messing up our expensive tub! |

The first holiday break I went on with my husband (then boyfriend) was to a log cabin retreat in the new forest. There was a shared hot hub for all the guests to book and use. We booked late and got the last slot at about 10:30, I think there was an much cum in it as water! Lol xx |

OP, I think your friend was being very disrespectful challenging your rules for the use of your hot tub. Reminds of the days before the wearing of seat belts were mandatory. I told anyone who got in my car to put their seat belt on. Anyone who objected was told to get out.

I was expecting to get roasted on this post as I felt a little guilty being so strict. I like the hot tub after a long hard day and the thought of having to spend hours cleaning up after others defeats the object of having a relaxing soak |

Everyone showers before using mine, sex has happened in the past many times but now my niece and nephew use it afew times a week when they come over so sex wouldnt happen now.
Your tub ur rules.
I always think those tubs are sex clubs... not a chance id get in one of those cess pits  |
