Just found Nuns on the Run on Channel 4 on demand - this was one of my favourite comedies of my teenage years and I must have watched it a dozen times! I'm now enjoying it again after 20 years!
What 1980s or 90s comedies can people recommend? I've already rewatched Coming to America recently What vintage comedies have you recently rediscovered? |

I looked for it on DVD about a year ago after remembering it from the ‘80s, couldn’t believe it was on Channel 4 again and I watched it last week |

"Groundhog Day.
Bill murray is comedy royalty.
If you're going to have a film with Bill Murray in then I used to love What about Bob!"
Hello Louise 8300, I enjoy your suggestion too.
If you promise to watch Groundhog Day tomorrow then I’ll promise to watch what about Bob.
Let’s say we meet back here at 2100 hrs tomorrow evening and deliver our favourite bill murray line for each other’s enjoyment?
Afterwards we could exchange nudes privately and discuss other classic bill murray moments.
Yours in hot anticipation, Sam. |

This might be out there but does anyone remember a film with Sylvester Stallone in it called Oscar? I remember seeing it years ago thinking it was hilarious and haven't seen a trace of it since! |

Newry Down |
The modern version of the ancient tale of the prince and the pauper exchanging places, also known as Trading Places.
Introductory music was The Marriage of Figaro; with Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Denholm Elliott, Don Ameche, Frank Oz, et al.
A well made romp, highly entertaining, good production values, good acting from the principal stars, a couple of direct to cameras winks to the audience (in the style of Groucho Marx), etc.
Expertly crafted Christmas movie. |

There's a sort of follow up most people haven't seen: The Pope Must Die with Robbie Coltrane. It's worth a look, but not as good as the first. |

"Monty Python and the Holy grail,
The man with 2 brains (Steve Martin is excellent)"
The man with 2 brains, Yes!
Also The Jerk and Bowfinger are brilliant.
An out there suggestion - Amazon Woman On The Moon, although I think I'm the only person, apart from John Landis who has ever watched it. |

I remember that bit in Amazon Women with the lady walking round naked. I watched that a whole bunch of times. Don't remember the rest of the film so much. |

Turner and Hooch; I only realised that the central character was a dogue de Bordeaux, aka French mastiff.
Massively powerful dog; my favourite would be a Korthals Griffon, sometimes mistakenly called Wire-haired German Pointer, which is a different dog. |

Caddy Shack
Uncle Buck
Police Academy
National lampoons…Christmas vacation.
Stir Crazy
(Basically anything with Richard Prior, John Candy, Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Gene Wilder or Chevy Chase was a great comedy for me)
