"Our daughter has got her very first job today, she's just a young teenager but went to her trial day with confidence and proved herself. We are chuffed.
What was your first ever paid job?"
Paper round- odd jobs but my first salaried job was in the fashion industry in my 20s |

I had a paper round as soon as I could, but also did random odd jobs for friends parents too.

Legally speaking, apprenticeship doing software testing among other things for a web design company when I was 18.
But I was working in my family's corner shop well before that |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Saturday job at 14, collecting and counting the money in Woolworth's.
I'm not sure why they let a 14 year old, accompanied by a 15 year old lad, collect the money 3 times a day. It was a relatively large Woolworth's with clothes, furniture, cheese and meat counters and the usual Woolworth's stuff. We picked up a lot of cash just after lunch and in late afternoon. |

I was a farm hand as a teenager, loved it! Dang carry hay bails like I used to though. Recently the farmers (now grown up) daughter tracked me down. I wasn’t single at the time and wouldn’t play away but now…… |

That wouldn't be allowed these days. I bet it was interesting for you. And how much alcohol did you drink at the end of a shift "
Erm...... what's the UK equivalent of pleading the 5th? |

Oh that is brilliant! Well done to her! what is she doing?
My first job was a chambermaid in a hotel, felt so grown up as I had a little flat at the top of the hotel. Earned £120 a week and lodging was free, meals cooked by the chef and close to the beach. I loved it
