According to sexymansguide every man should own 3 different coloured suits

Black

Grey

Navy

Do you agree with this statement and what colour suit compliments you best

Ladies chip in with your opinions of colour or advise a guy on what colour suits him best

I like a nice vintage suit. Brown pinstripes need to make a come back. I like that Peaky blinders look too.

I was in a shop this week where I had to walk through a suit sale. Blimey! If only I had a man …. Some of them were bloody stunning suits. Lovely colours - pale grey or pale blue checks with contrast on the pockets and some very smart dark business suits. I hung around for a while to see if any nice guys appeared

I’ve got several of each colour. Suits are my weakness/guilty pleasure.

My Dad had an amazing brown pistrip suit for his wedding day in the 1970s when the fashion was inspired by the 1930s.

No.

If I did I'd have had 3 unworn suits to throw out this year as I've lost weight.

I work in a creative industry and suit wearing is actually frowned upon by my peers as it's seen to be too constricting and not creative.

So the only time I wear one is at a wedding (I hardly ever go to any), work Christmas party and funerals (luckily I've hardly ever gone to any).

Have the right clothes to fit you and your lifestyle, not what some silly guide tries to push on you.

I have a grey suit and a decidedly blue one. The way workplaces are these days, I wonder if I'll ever wear them. Opportunities are so rare I would say three suits for me is completely unnecessary. Even two is overkill.

I think it's a shame. I like my suits and it's nice to dress up smart.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

I own one suit, and I have only had it for a couple of months to wear at a wedding. It's black, with a charcoal waistcoat.

I'm at that age where I'll be going to more funerals than christenings, so it will get some use!

I have 6 suits, 3 the colours above and all from a 60s gents shop. I adore the early 3 button jazz style suits and have recently acquired a 2 button styled on late 50s/early 60s. Trousers are always tailored to a acceptable length.

Personally I think it’s down to the man wearing it, different colours suit different skin tones/hair colouring

A tailored, sharp suit with a crisp white fitted shirt - maybe a little detailing in the lining or a pocket square gives it a little egde for me xx

I wear grey and navy suits for work but take off the jacket as soon as I possibly can!

Can't beat a crispy ironed, long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up neatly.

I quite like my suits; mostly dark grey and the dark blue, fitted. The double breasted pinstripe rarely gets an outing these days. More often than not, a jacket and tie is preferable.

I would say dark blue or grey would be the best colours to have first as they are the most versatile. Black is one of the last colours to get unless you need it for work, as it is difficult to pair with anything other than a white shirt!

Also as has been said before it being well fitted, I've gotten into bespoke suits and am just starting my sartorial journey. Currently have a dark blue suit and a brown sports jacket that I think looks amazing.

I also think you could be very creative in your styling of such things with different accessories and combinations of colours?
