"There are more stars in the visible universe than there are grains of sand on the earth. However a grain of sand has more atoms than there are stars in the visible universe. "
That just made my brain itch. |

What makes me uncomfortable is that the lifestyle greatly increases the risk of STD's. Constantly weighing up the risks, even with "safe" sex (cause non-monogamy is never really 100% safe is it). |

On a microscopic level almost all human beings have mites that live on their eyelashes. (don't google the microscopic pics of them, you'll have nightmares.)
On a bigger level, about 1 in 4 human beings on the planet don't have access to a bathroom or running water. |

That's not a big surprise when you think of the Aboriginies, Eskimos/Inuit and other nomadic tribes. |

"A human head remains conscious for around 20 seconds after being decapitated. If you count to 20 it seems like a long time to know you’re going to die. "
It is a myth. It has never been proven. |

"There is no end to how far you can go back in time. Even before the "big bang", there was time."
~That's quite mind blowing.
I remember my physics teacher explaining that if you travel at light speed in one straight direction in space, you'll end up coming back on yourself and reach the same spot (after an almost infinite amount of time..)
never quite comprehended that either. |

Think of it like the globe. You eventually loop back. It's just it's a 3d object not a 2d surface. |

In the last 200 years, since records started to be taken, there have been over 300,000 (yes, three hundred thousand) tiger attacks on humans in the Indian subcontinent.
-As the human population expands, the tigers have a constant supply of food i guess. |

That the 6 richest people in worlds wealth is equal to around half of the world's population of wealth. Enough to make you sick when poverty exists in the world. |

The fact that the net worth of the top 1% in the UK account for 21% of the UK's wealth and the richest 6 people in the uk have as much wealth as the lowest 13 million!
I don't begrudge and it doesn't account for what's put back into society but such disparity when we suffer with homelessness and the need for food banks
And let's not start on the wealth of the likes of Bezos... are space trips really the best way of helping humanity? |

On similar themes that others have mentioned, there's over 12000 corporate lobbyists at any one time working in the USA, lobbying (bribing..) to steer laws & public policy to their advantage. They've managed to frame what they do as a "free speech" issue in some cases so there's no limit to their actions. |

A universe was created only for us to spaff it up the wall by going to work to pay for material possessions we don’t need, to pay for the car we travel to work in, to answer e mails from people we don’t like, to queue in a line for something that doesn’t matter and to collect Nectar points. |

Wealth is it as good a measure as income. People can earn a good living, spend it all, borrow more, have a negative net worth (wealth) but a great lifestyle and income.
Income is a better measure, or disposable income. |

If the world's population stood shoulder to shoulder you would need a space of 600sq miles to stand in*.
The Isle of Wight is 147sq miles.
*Not counting the kebab vans and portaloos required to support such a crowd. |

But doesn't that mean it's not infinite? Has anyone told Captain Kirk? |

The number of people who complain about ‘scroungers’ (on benefits) yet don’t appreciate that they are quite likely not themselves a net contributor, Only marginally less of a ‘drain’. |

It feel longer if you're counting to 20 too. Not sure it's what I would be doing in my dying seconds lol |

When you put the tip of your tongue on the back of your lower front teeth. And twist your tongue side to side. Your jaw feels like it swings 180 degrees from side to side, not your tongue. Does this mean your tongue controls which way up we are & how does it know this?
And you'll try it now to check! |

I struggle to comprehend there are so many possible ways to shuffle a standard deck of cards that, as a result, every time you shuffle there is more probability you are the first person in history to shuffle in that sequence.

It’s a conundrum isn’t it?
I hate being hurt - but I also feel awful if I hurt anyone.
Sometimes I think it’s best not to have them at all. Xx |

"Nearly everyone has Demodex mites that live inside our pores "
Ok - but do these mites do harm or good? Or do they just do nothing and mind their own business?
If they eat dead skin and turn it into collagen or something (probably not possible but I’m an optimist) - then how do I get some if I haven’t already? |
