It’s not you, it’s me, I just need some space right now?

I feel we are headed in different directions?

I need to take my life in a different direction?

Be honest but gentle in your wording. It will hurt them either way if they are not expecting it.

You are rejecting someone so they are going to be hurt. You can't avoid this. Bite the bullet - be honest but use tact.

Be honest, but be kind and be unambiguous. Don't let them think there's a chance you could get back together if there isn't.

Good luck OP.

In a town full of colours

Be honest and do it face to face

1. Be honest

2. Acknowledge their feelings even if you don't share them.

3. Acknowledge you had good times as well as bad times.

4. Be clear in what you want to happen and do not ...

5. Make easy promises of staying friends etc. If that happens as both want it... it will happen anyway.

Finally - be honest with yourself before you have that conversation. Good luck!

Sometimes you have to do stuff that will make people upset or think badly of you. It's part of adulthood. You can't break up with someone without hurting their feelings.
