Having to cancel

Walsall

Just had to cancel going to a meet today, well potential meet.

So I know there is a lot of negativity about this and I can understand why.

I have seen that one I informed the person I was meeting they have read the message 'also noted I'd love to try again' but with no response not sure if that will ever happen.

Ita only a financial issue that halting the meet, expenses have left me dry for a couple of weeks.

Anything people can suggest? I don't want to be 'another statistic' but I know it's going to look bad.

Oh and I did let them know with about a weeks notice so they have a chance to make other plans if they can/want.

A weeks notice is plenty. Not much more you can do!

"A weeks notice is plenty. Not much more you can do!"

Well I'm pleased that part is fine. Just hope it doesn't look poorly upon me for other potential meets.

I think you have nothing to worry about. You explained why and if that's not good enough then it's on them, not you.

Agreed, it's not like you ghosted them OP. You have been open and honest with plenty of time for them to make other plans, should they want to.

Not that it was expensive, just other expenses.. Like getting there and drinks etc..

Nothing major, just making sure survival take priority.

A week's notice is amazing. I got to a meet point, sat for 10 mins, then was told "stuck in traffic.. gonna be 20 mins"...

Then he huffed tgat I went home due to his lack of planning

Why did you plan a meet if you knew your finances were low?.

I think you're in the clear. You gave notice, it's a valid reason.

I often struggle financially and ya don't wanna be sat there wanting a drink or wanting to get a round in knowing in the back of your head that's not actually a real priority so now you're there feeling guilty. It would have affected your mood no matter how much you tried to hide it.

If anything it shows responsibility and consideration.

What a d***. He didn't deserve the meet then.

Mate plans a few days ago had plenty in the bank.. (or so I thought).. Everything came out of bank this morning at once, wasn't expecting it.

Agree. It can be hard to understand, if you don’t struggle with money.

If it's any help for the future, I've been on walks with meets and I've probably enjoyed them the most

It happens don't sweat it. If they don't understand they aren't worth meeting. That's my view.

Cheers all, this was definitely relieving to hear that I've not shot myself in the foot completely.

Walks etc would be a nice one to have. Might look into that next time.

Bank holiday coming up; everything wants paying early maybe. Eating and surviving has to come first

You did the right thing absolutely. I’ve been stood up more than once and they didn’t even have the decency to say they couldn’t make it.
