And nature worshippers.

Tonight is the night of rare 'blue moon' well, the moon doesn't actually look blue but it is illuminated by the sun...

I shall be out soaking up the lunar energy for sure

It’s actually not that rare; it’s when 2 full moons fall in the same calendar month. I love the moon; I follow a very well known lady who teaches about it; I can pm you her details if you’d be interested? She’s a lovely human being! xx

It's also the Sturgeon moon, I believe. If you're fishing somewhere particular.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

You will also see Jupiter and Saturn in close proximity to the moon tonight. As Jupiter is in opposition, it will be the brightest object in the sky after the moon.

"Do you know why it's called a blue moon?

The almanac that used to give the moon rise and set times gave the full moon time in red (rather than black) but if there was a second full moon in a calendar month it was printed in blue. Hence blue moon!

As already stated. It's not blue and it's just two full Moons in the month. Neither is it rare as it occurs every 2 or 3 years. Far more interesting ( maybe?) is the gas giant planet Jupiter with its 4 largest moons easily visible with binos and the 'red spot' with a small tescope. It is at its brightest this month. Saturn is nearby and is spectacular through a small telescope. Happy observing.

This is a thread I like. Just to add some geekiness the moon was at its fullest at 12:54pm. It’s still a full moon out there but that was the time it turned full.

Your next new moon is September 7th in Virgo if you follow the cycles
