It's a personal choice.

Showing other Black and Brown people that you have been recognised is important too.

There is a campaign to get the E changed to Excellence.

Is it Micheal scheen the actor from Wales has a big beard he sent his MBE back as he was doing a talk on race at some uni he did not want to look like a hypocrite good on him

There are lots of reasons people refuse them, and some return them. There are lots of reasons people accept them. My point was your framing this about two Black men and not all people who are anti-racist.

I am a product of 'empire'. I know the racism I have faced. If offered, I would accept the honour while my father is still alive. After he has died I might have a different response.

I am Italian also had racism going back to teachers in school so I know but I'm sure it would be 100 times worse for black and brown people even more for them not to support an award which is connected to racism
