I think the OP is trying to describe companies that use your data for advertising and marketing strategies.
As for "turning you into something you're not" the internet is a goldmine of information for people who want to expand their knowledge or get involved in different types of community that aren't readily available to them...
A couple of strategically targeted adverts seems like a small price to pay for that, even more so when you're already aware of them |

A couple of strategically targeted adverts seems like a small price to pay for that, even more so when you're already aware of them " It's impossible to not (sometimes) be led along certain paths by viewing suggestions offered on the internet that tally with an interest(s) (not ads in my case) is it entirely a good thing to be so spoon-fed? |

Zuckers is a dangerous little fucker, same for the heads of ggooggle, twwwitter etc. Companies that can choose whether or not certain people or certain information are/ is allowed to be seen by others can literally sway global narratives whenever they wish. |
