"Yes my carpets are very expensive not swirly Axminster I take it xx "
I'm showing my age in a good way here but no idea what that is
We do provide slippers upon show removal though so holey socks could be hidden |

"Oh bugger that, my house is a home, the only rule is you come in and chill and don't sit in the dogs spot on the sofa, he gets the hump "

In our house you can keep your shoes on downstairs but in the rare event you should be going upstairs we would expect their removal.
When visiting others home I take my cue from the host.
Mr quite often has muddy boots in the winter so he always takes them off outside (even if he stops at the shop on the way home). |

Also I have a lot of people at my house. Friends etc. Do a lot of entertaining. When people go out for an evening their shoes are part of their outfit. Suppose it’s different if you don’t have people around a lot. I’ve wooden flooring all downstairs so it’s fine but I didn’t when I had carpet either. Only upstairs as the carpets are cream but there’s no need for people to go upstairs. |

Yes please. I prefer it. We do lots of lounging on the floor here so it's nice to know the rugs are clean. But mostly, Come in, be cosy and comfy.
If you don't take your shoes off I won't ask you to but it won't be long before you want to join me and kick em off. |

"Nope
Leave your shoes on
Just wipe them on the mat
I don't wont your stinky trotters on The Karndeen showing my ignorance here karndeen ? Xx"
It's basically industrial strength flooring, but looks like wood / laminate
They do a range that looks like tiles too
It's used in a lot of bars / restaurants with high footfall because it's so durable
I only knew about it from my last place of work. I'd never heard of it before then either. |

If its a social visit ill always take them off, unless they say dont worry at which point ill assess the cleanliness of the house and make a decision.
If for work i just ask, as its long undoing work boot laces. |

"I've always taken my shoes off at other people's houses its just polite too isn't it? "
I’d say it’s polite to ask yes. I have a slate kitchen floor but once people see my cream lounge carpet they usually insist on taking shoes off |

My house is always a shoes on affair, the floors arent really feet kind. I do always hover in doorways to assess the cream carpetedness of any house I visit and take them off accordingly. |
