So I was doing some further research after a post I done a week ago about me and my bestie always seeming to make the same mistake of chasing guys who have toxic traits.
And trying to understand more the psychology of what goes on in our Fucked up brains , leading eventually to a potential diagnosis of daddy issues…
Which seem to fit a lot both our situations in seeking validation especially from men (like we seem to value more a compliment from a man than from a woman), repeating the same mistakes with guys who seem to all eventually let us down or hurt us (and we still chase them), the fear of abandonment etc
The oddest thing for me is that I think I’ve had mostly a good relationship with my father, tho he had troubles accepting me for who I am (still he did buy me barbies ahha) but was present. But I wonder the fact he was more like a grandpa due to his age(he had me super late) might do with it.
Either way I was wondering if anyone else recognise this and wants to chip in with their experience and how do you deal with these issues?
What can you actively do to try and fix the cycle as this isn’t a case of take a pill everyday and it will be sorted?
Is going to the shrink the only way to purge the past??
Also, does any guy or girl have mommy issues? And how have you realised or dealt with them? |

My mother was a grade "A" see u next Tuesday. As a result I bonded with older females as role models, not in a sexual way. I have a close friend and mentor that is the same age as my mother and gave me so much more than my own mother ever could. My mum is so jealous of her which only goes to show how emotionally immature she is.
You sound like you have a good relationship with your father. It might just be another time old tradition of falling for the bad boys. Lord knows there are so many of them around. |

I totally get what you mean, my older sister (we aren’t related when it comes to genetics) has a mother who is totally grade A and she definitely has issues. Totally toxic and treacled down on her xx
Yeah I have fond memories of my dad (for the most part, I guess) but apparently Daddy issues don’t only affect girls (and guys also) who had dads who abandoned them, but all kinds, like pushy dads, or dads who were physically present but not really there if it makes sense..

My biological father was a total wife beating drug addicted scumbag who died of a herion overdose after being released from prison. I was raised by another man who was patient kind and full of humour. Pretty sure he is gay but soooo in the closet. He was my saviour and having him in my life made it possible to endure my mother. Their are some amazing men out there however they often are the ones who get caught up with the toxic females!!!! |
