I saw this on my update today. Errmmm, I think you mean women or ladies.

Female and women are two different things. Female is a scientific word and describes all species. Women are always human.

Also the sentence is grammatically weird, female is an adjective, but it has been used as a noun. It makes it really unclear as the subject has been erased, female what? Female kangaroos, a female rattlesnake maybe?

Is it just me or does it give any other ladies the ick?

Ah yes. You’re right. I have done. I think I feel fine referring to myself as a girl, but not other people. I’m going to reflect on that and decide whether I want to change it.
