"Shappi Khordasi?
Think she's hilarious. Also like Sarah Millican and Katherine Ryan xT "
Sarah Millican doesn't even make my funny bone wobble ....... funny how we all like different people. I turn her off too. So unfunny ....... she's like the female John Bishop of the comedy circuit. |

Why ask ?"
The thread says 'Funny women'. You've mentioned those that aren't quite so funny to you. I'm curious as to who you would deem to be funny. I don't know many of those that have already been named, I must admit. |

Katherine Ryan annoys me but I cannot figure out why
Doughnut "
For me she is pretentious , entitled and not very likeable.
Her attempt at comedy writing ' The Duchess' didn't appeal to me one iota. Her idea of a strong single mother was almost embarrassing , as if being loud , vulgar and truculent demonstrated strength - quite the opposite |

Sally Phillips is very humble. She's one of the writers for Motherland. Then so is Holly Walsh, Sharon Horgan et al. |

I'd pay to watch comedy before a band. I do enjoy it but mostly for their political comment. I'm not particularly into the BBC darlings who get trolled out on every panel show because essentially they are 'safe' |

There isn’t anyone that makes me laugh out loud I can think of, I can appreciate several of the women mentioned wit and intelligence, but that’s not the same as a proper belly laugh, but then we can’t control what we find funny. I’m sure there must be one, I’ll keep thinking. |

I never take you seriously. I do have a friend who says exactly this with female writers and he never entertains a book with a female author and he cannot for the life of him see his male assumptions and biases. Brain the size of Jupiter....... ( shakey head emoji if there was one ) |

"I love Jo Brand. A put down from her would be an honour x"
I've always liked her stand up and writing. Her observations of people and life in Care Homes and hospitals just astound.
I'm less fussy now that I feel she's winding down a little and why shouldn't she? I saw her in Liverpool a few years back plugging her book. I enjoy her writing too. |

I saw her on stage about 5 years ago and I had heard every single joke or story before on her tv appearances. It was just lazy from start to finish, but a single new line or joke. |

The only political comedy I have ever liked was yes minister, and that was because it brilliantly parodied the institutions of politics.
But comedians going on about politics? Tedious, and almost entirely in one political camp. I got bored of political comedians before Ben Elton’s time. |

Yes, funny isn't it that you should only be able to reference someone being political as someone banging on about politics.... |

Not really. I just find her boring and unoriginal, has been trotting out the same jokes on stage for years.
Odd that you should twist this into suggesting that people feeling threatened. That hasn’t happened with ani if the other comedians that people said they didn’t find funny. Personal taste. |

Very Sun Reader the anti Jo thing. Happy not all find her funny but the over emphasis of her alleged man hating etc is simply insecurity on behalf of the commentator. She grew up in a time where men could be real pigs to larger ladies. |

Gross generalisation buy I've found female comedians seem to have a better success rates with TV series (some notable exceptions for me Miranda) but I've not really found many I'd watch a while set for.
But it has been a long while since i really watched stand up so it may be, like music, I just stick to what I know now.
Will be youtubinh some names here later ! |

I’m just trying to think if I’ve read a book by a woman, this is bad but I don’t think I have, not on purpose. I follow plenty of women on Twitter though, who are very interesting and brave. |
