Morning has broken.

Now that really is a song that should only be sung by folk who can sing!

At school now we sing "shotgun" by George Ezra, "firework" Katy Perry and "got that feelin" Justin Timberlake. How the times have changed.

Sing hosannah

All things bright and beautiful

Plough the fields and scatter

The ink is black. Not sure if that’s a hymn. We sang it in assembly though

So many to choose from but I reckon my favourites where God of Mercy, God of Grace & Eternal Father - sang at least once a week at school for the many fishermen at sea in our community

I'm not religious at all but one hymn I loved the tune of was "oh jesus I have promised" cos it was quite upbeat & happy.

I just started doing a "thankful for and hymn" morning at work on a Sunday for my residents, I use most of these as brings back memories for them.

Oh that was a lovely one but it was always funny listening to people trying to hit the high notes. When a Knight Won His Spurs was another happy one.

We used to sing bangers like:-

We are climbing Jesus’s ladder

I am the lord of the dance

Then we also sang Beatles songs thinking they were hymns:

When I’m 64

Yellow Submarine

And also, maybe controversially now

Brown girl in the ring

I was always surprised at Sunday school that the last 3 weren’t played!

Of course now they cannot be called Hymms so we have to use the term "thems" ;-p
