Interesting reading in the medical press, middle age spread for both sexes no longer blamed on age, it’s pretty much lifestyle.
“Perhaps the most unexpected feature was the constancy of metabolic rate in both males and females between the ages of 20 and 60,” tweeted co-author Dr. John Speakman, of the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.
“This suggests that if you are experiencing middle-age spread, it’s more likely to be because you are eating more rather than expending less,” he added.
The research appears in the journal Science.
I know for me, as I have got older, life kinda slows down a bit, you can travel more, afford to eat out and drink well and basically no longer running around after a young family.
But I do keep ‘active’ and mindful of sitting about too much |

Yep you slow down. My father is in his mid nineties his weight has been the same since he was 20. That's because he eats in moderation, worked at a physical job until his mid seventies and now that he no longer rides his bike or walks as much he eats less.
