Do you think humans should interfere?

We as people on this planet can’t help interfering with the natural balance of things, inevitably we play god but what makes us think we should?

Scientists interfere with nature on a regular basis, trying to stop species breeding or killing off others, manipulating genetics of plants to alter their characteristics, even messing with ecosystems claiming to try and preserve it. But are we not to blame for it falling apart in the first place?

Do you think, if we can do something even though it may have implications further down the road that we should?

I mean everywhere they are trying to say cars should go electric not mentioning that the mining of Lithium for the batteries is more harmful and destructive to ecosystems than the manufacture of cars. Also that we still need electricity to run them which will still have to be harnessed in non renewable sources. As for renewable energy, parts are damaging in their production too.

Strange, but did Thanos from the marvel universe have the right idea?

Too many apex predators eventually means a shortage of food and resources.

What are your thoughts?

Should humans interfere with the natural order of things? It does pose a moral dilemma as well, but do we have the right to interfere with natural phenomena?

Am not sure how long it will take but this planet can’t take what we are doing to it and our eco system ! We do need to intervene to stop what we have started

Carl Sagan said he thought that the human brain was simply the universe contemplating itself. We are part of the natural order of things. To see ourselves as seperate from nature is wrong to me. We aren't gods, we're just another species. Just so happens we can cure disease and do complex calculations, but we're natural phenomena too.

As for our mining and our need to consume power we can get our heads around that soon enough. There's enough energy from the Sun to power a dozen planets.

I think part of our problem is we're all raised in a Christian environment and as such we're always at the end of days. Fulfilling the prophecy of the second coming. The end of the world is always tomorrow and It's all our fault.

If we’ve had a hand in damaging them, isn’t it only right we try to help it?

As for cars, electric is the way to go. Battery technology is getting better and better every year.

And on top of that, while a lot of electric powering electric cars is from non renewable energy, it’s more efficient that using combustion fuels, and regenerative breaks are a thing.

And don’t forget that not all electric powering cars is from non renewable. As renewable power steps up eventually it’ll power all cars.

And anyways, what’s your proposed solution? Just keep burning fossil fuels? Let ecosystems we’ve damaged just die off?

Very good point about us just being another species. Quite often we see nature as being “ours” when in fact nature owns “us”.

And the only true universal language that every animal understands is love.

The Christian environment I believe was a way of explaining the unexplainable at the time and also keeping people under control and civilised. I mean there is still a massive amount modern science can not explain in the world and some theories even sound shaky at best. Tbh I think although religion has a massive influence to the ways and problems we encounter today, I think an even greater problem is the media and how dishonest they are with the truth.

I mean when Christianity teaches and preaches on the fact that we are at the centre of the universe and all around, animals including are for us and our own needs. And have no souls apparently so they are like objects…

It tells everything …. I do agree we should try rectify the shit we caused and keep causing to this planet cos let’s be honest, if we were still apes, the planet would have been better off in terms of nature.

Hey, don’t get me wrong , there have been some amazing humans who created amazing things, like music and art etc etc ..But yeah, I’m quite bitter about what’s happening and how things are going really

Try not damaging them in the first place?

Batteries have a limited shelf life the process of creation makes a huge carbon much larger than the creation and running of normal cars.

It is also from renewable sources, but the production of the components (e.g: Dams, turbines) emissions and environmental impact often outweigh what they save in their service time.

I don’t really have a solution to the problem. Hydro fuel cells should be looked into more I think as they split water into hydrogen and oxygen and burn them to produce water and energy.

I suppose the real question I was trying to ask in the thread is…..

As humans we interfere with nature and environment and everything around us, so if in the future everyone loves to a point where resources are short as this planet cannot sustain us. Do we uproot and do the same to another planet or do we interfere with our own ecosystem? Much like what we do with others?

In the way we are living, we are very much like a virus.

The real solution is working on battery technology to a point it’s extremely viable

Then using Nuclear power.

I haven’t looked into hydro fuel cells, but with an already dwindling level of fresh water, and the inherent issues with using salt water, I can imagine it’s a good idea that doesn’t work on a mass scale.

We let the psychopaths run the world. The media moguls and the CEOs. Doesn't absolve humanity of blame, but we have let the lunatics run the asylum. More empathy at the top please.

South Lakes

The butterfly effect. I think certain groups of people do interfere too much with nature, introducing non native species of plants and animals to attempt to balance a problem then finding the solution becomes a problem. I have first hand witnessed cock ups by Natural England locally by trying to "manage" nature and creating another problem. Nature and the animal world is far better at managing itself than we are at managing ourselves.

surrounded by twinkly lights

We are creating our own destruction as we have over thousands of years, we find different ways to end each other and nature has thousands of ways to end us, it will come its just a matter of if I am alive to see it

We have proved ourselves to be the ultimate apex predator.

And there are too many of us, so we are wiping out ecosystems without regard to how that affects the planet, and ourselves.

With space travel becoming a thing do you think the super rich care about the environment, me or you?

They only care about money and that is how it will always be until there is nothing left.

Even if it means destruction
