10 years ago a dentist pulled the wrong tooth out.

Now I have a big fear of dentists

I don't mind the dentist tbh.

For years my dentist had a big map of the world on his ceiling which I studied as he worked. When the practice changed hands the new owners removed said map, that irritated me.

(he does dance to Chico time though to make me feel at ease, so I guess he earns his money)

Never had an issue so don't mind going. The only gripe I have is that they insist u arrive on time. Then they make u wait for ages over the appointment time to be finally seen for a 2 minute checkup then charged 25quid

My dentist keeps cancelling my appointments with various excuses. Not been able to see one since before first lockdown.

Because my normal dentist wouldn't give me an emergency appointment for 3 weeks, and I ended up in an emergency dentist having a wisdom tooth pulled out which cost me £375 in the end for a same day appointment.

We used to call my dentist fairy fingers because he was so gentle

He retired and his son is now my dentist and he's just as gentle as his dad

The Town by The Cross

I dislike the chair that is not designed for comfort

His rubber gloves in my mouth that taste of powder and smell like paint.

I dislike the light that shines in my eyes

I dislike the feel of my nose being stretched open while he pulls my lips and mouth.

I detest my thoughts

wondering what he can see up my nose

I don't like sensing someone is behind me - she never speaks - she only listens - she rustles paper , gathers equipment - passes tissues and water cups on demand.

I see eczema on his face.

I stare into the light.

He tells me things about my teeth that I know, things that he has told me many times.

I ask him the same questions as I always ask- he answers as if he's hearing me for the first time.

He praises me for cleaning my teeth well and then ......... cleans them

Spitting with strangers in the room leaves me traumatised ........

The treatment room smells clinical.

I spend my time wondering why 'teeth' are not a national health provision.

I try to maintain dignity throughout and while I am putting my coat on and preparing to leave.

That feeling - of allowing someone to touch my body that I do not want anywhere near me. Allowing them to pull my face and render me grotesque.

I thank them as a victim trying to ensure their escape would thank an abuser

I pay.

I fucking hate going.

I don't mind it so much. My last dentist was really rude though but she's left the practice and I have a nice one now. I mostly have good teeth though but I have recently had some issues on one side as I grind them when I'm stressed.

My dentist has a lovely manner and is very handsome. The pain is not good at times but I want nice teeth so will always tolerate it.

It's uncomfortable and our dentist has a huge poster above the chair on the dangers of oral cancer. Apart from that he's the best dentist we've ever had

I don’t mind the dentist but I’m lucky to have good teeth that don’t need any treatment. I did have my wisdom teeth out when I was younger but other than that nothing. My last visit I was told I had perfect teeth and he had nothing to tell me

Love my dentist, he's impressed that I still have a baby tooth, not so impressed though that he never really has any work to do on my teeth

Same, it's never had a filling. When my dentist practice changed hands my new dentist was quite surprised to find it in there at my checkup.

I actually quite like going to the dentist as the check-up reassures me that all is well with my teeth and gums. Never missed my twice a year min check-ups and 3 times a year hygienist - yes, you could say I am quite *anal about my teeth".*

*You could seriously only say that on a swingers' forum

Actually on a more serious note, few people are aware that problems with teeth/ gums can cause more serious problems including heart and brain infections....

He told me to stop producing so much Saliva, like I can control an In voluntary reaction, you’d think a dentist would know that ?!

Near Wells

The price winds me up, especially as its about 3 minutes for a check up and over £20.

I have customers that are dentists and they are not poor.

I don’t mind the dentist at all, which is quite amazing given that was my first job I ended up upside down in the dentist chair after fainting during watching one of the procedures they were performing eeeiuuggghhh

I hate the dentist cos I don’t seem to brush hard enough or correctly enough and I always get criticised on my flossing technique

Also my dad used to force me to go to the dentist almost monthly from when I can remember for like 7-8 years of my life … I am grateful now as I got nice looking teeth but still x lol he was OTT

couple, us we him her.

As a young boy I had to have a filling.

The dentist was very old, like ancient.

Obviously set in his ways and clearly not used to giving the injection.

As he jabbed me and said it was fine to proceed.

I said I could still feel,he told me to shut up and started drilling.

I think I almost shattered the windows with my screams.

My sister who took me threatened to knock him out if he didn't stop.

He retired a few weeks later.

Worst of all...

He drilled the wrong tooth!!!

Op I feel your pain, literally.

Cant stand the smell, the taste when they are scaling and polishing and the horrible gritty bits in your mouth. The build up of saliva at the back of your throat which you have to keep swallowing even though you know its full of the gritty bits. The foul liquid you rinse with.

My dentists and assistants are all absolutely drop dead gorgeous though, so I can forgive them anything. The hygienist however talks to you like your 5 years old and seems genuinely shocked that you dont brush after every meal. Well i dont because after my lunch at work, i get back to work, not tittivating my teeth and gums. Utter fuckwit she is.
