Apparently the so called graffiti artist called Banski painted a rat in a deckchair on a beach in Lowestoft.. overnight someone covered it it white paint and have been called vandals.. WTF ?

The overnighters are graffiti artists surely..

I think this is part of the genius that is banksy (or at least his work)... It opens up discussions like no other. (Without being a complete shock jock)

There was a great programme on Sky Arts (Freeview-Ch.11) called "Banksy and the Rise of Outlaw Art".

It's been on at least a couple of times this year, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone that's interested in him.

I wonder if cash strapped councils love and welcome a Banski on their buildings but will cry criminal damage if their cash cow is painted over

It was on our local BBC news that he did a painting on a wall of children in a boat , the council had it removed due to bad taste because not long ago a young child got swept out to sea & died whist on a little dingy

There are far more better Graffiti artists than Banski...what Banski has done though is brought 'street art' as it's now called to be known by people that would just turn heads and scoff at it otherwise. It really is amazing the ability that some people have, to pick up a can of spray paint and create some thing that really makes us stop, look and think, whether that be a thought provoking piece or a portrait of some one famous...all done by free hand and not using stencils. You really have to admire their skills.

Agreed. Banksy has bought a slight policical edge but some are amazing with a can. Always felt fortunate when living in Bristol and how they embarced the art.

I lost interest in him when I discovered he has “assistants” that do a lot of the spraying on his behalf.

Just seemed a bit too showbiz.

I had imagined him going around late at night, wearing black, ninja like, quickly spurting one out on a random wall.

But no, often he dishes out stencils and tells his assistants to crack on.

The magic was lost after that.

It's like tattoos, some good and some bad, but the bad and the practice ones and tags shouldn't be inflicted on public places without consent imo (and who's to judge what's good or bad)

I think with most thieves, they will usually destroy what they can't steal. They're selfish buggers.

If Banksy painted on my wall I'd want to get rid of it. I really don't get what all the fuss is about him, but somehow his stuff is worth a hell of a lot.
