Went to watch 'Navy Seals' (Charlie Sheen, Michael Beihn) on my own when I was young. Missed my bus home and had enough time to kill until the next one so went to the Cinema! There was me and only one other person in there, and they read a book, it really was that bad!

I've done both a fair few times, but had never been to a cinema by myself until my mid 30s

The right place

I’ve done both quite a lot. Working away from home means you get used to it.

How do you read a book in the dark? Lol

I must have a phobia of sitting by myself in a dark room, would be too concerned what everyone else is doing to enjoy the film.

Well done. What film was it? Were you stood up or just wanted to go by yourself?

I go to the cinema by myself frequently but have never been alone to a restaurant where a waiter takes my order.

Cinema yes because I’ve got a Cineworld card. Restaurant probably because I often do hotels for work. You get used to it and people actually envy the confidence I find

I dont want to look as if I have no friends or look as if I have been stood up.

Also feel embarressed to ask for a table for one.

I've been to concerts on my own and even travelled to a different country. On my birthday this year I went hiking on my own and stayed over at a hotel and spa - was bliss!!

Yup to both but I'm happy doing everything on my own (was single for 28 years!)

Do do them all regularly, just because I’m single doesn’t mean I can’t have a life. Friends are often busy, so I learnt to “just do it,” to quote the advert.

Oh actually I didn’t think of that. I’ve also been on holiday alone so eaten out alone many times and tried to speak to restaurant staff in their own language as best as possible

I've been single for over 8 years now and I'm quite happy.. in normal times I have done loads of stuff like going on holiday, pubs and camping on my own but I can't think of the last time I went to a cinema or restaurant by myself.

I've been to the cinema and been the only person in there. (Afternoon showing of a film.)

Travelled alone, eaten in restaurants alone. Performed music alone, when my band couldn't make it.

Recently, within the last few years, I started hiking alone too. I've found i quite like being out in nature with no one around.

"I do wonder what it would be like to go to a swingers club on my own "

Cinemas, restaurants, holidays, yes. But I think going to a swingers club alone would take a whole new level of courage.

(thanks, autocorrect, for making the first version of this hilariously unreadable )

I do most things on my own. I find a lot of people would rather just talk about doing stuff than actually do it and that’s very frustrating.

People dithering about this that and the other does my head in.

I just get up and go.

I'm pretty confident and am happy to do most things on my own, sometimes it's nice to bask in our own company, once you have done your first one it becomes easier

Yes, I have done both, cinema and restaurant.

Cinema, usually when travelling, particularly in the US when films were launched earlier than here.

And restaurants, regularly. Some posters seem fine with going to McDonald’s on their own but not a proper restaurant? I don’t get that, don’t see why I should confine myself to fast food if I’m eating alone.

Always done both a LOT. Was single for very long time in my youth, single as in no dates at all and then my long term partner never liked doing much so I thought fuck it and did things on my own.

I do pretty much everything by myself. I'm a very self-contained person.

I find other people's inability to function independently to be strange and confusing.

Restaurant yes, lots in this country and abroad. Abroad is more fun, theres always someone interested in why you’re in a Lebanese restaurant in small town Germany (other restaurants and countries are available). Never done cinema alone, not for any other reason than not particularly a cinema goer.

The Cinema and restaurants are for social time with my family, so I never feel the need to go alone.

I can sit at home comfortably on my own and watch a film or eat.

I’ve done neither but that’s only because I’m a tight arse and expect the other person to pay when we go out. I won’t pay to do these things on my own.

I function very well on my own. I don't see a reason to go to a cinema or to a restaurant alone.

It's not a day/night out for me if someone isn't with me to talk to.

I would go to a museum or art gallery alone if something really drew me there, but the cinema is mostly somewhere I take children and eating out isn't that appealing to me.

Personally I enjoy my own company and sometimes prefer doing things in solitude. I've solo backpacked across Europe and Southeast Asia, enjoy going wild camping on my own and have also been known to treat myself to a nice meal or a spa break. Never been to the cinema by myself though, just never fancied it.

The last film I saw by myself was Get Out. I screamed a few times…. Probably not the best choice but, luckily only a few people in the cinema It’s quite liberating going by yourself, try it! X

I’ve been to the cinema loads of times on my own. I like to go to the late shows and there’s often very few people there. I can book a seat right in the middle, not have other people chatting and hearing them eat next to me or behind me, opening packets, that sort of thing.

There was a time that i couldn't do anything by myself, always needed to be with someone. But now i enjoy being on my own and doing things that i want to.

Train rides and shopping. Means i can sit and enjoy the view and be in my own world. Going shopping on my own means i can go at my own speed and go in the shops i want to and not have to go in the ones i dont.

I've thought about having dinner or lunch on my own, but not quite sure. Dont think i have the confidence to be on my own and would miss the conversation we have over food. I have a habit of falling asleep watching a film and commenting a little through films so enjoy sharing them with someone else so not sure cinema would be a good idea on my own.

Have considered booking a hotel on my own just to have my own space and enjoy the peace to myself.
