"Lots in the local newspapers about this. One family has seen them every day inside the house and are petrified but can't find the nest..
Any sightings near you ?"
I have them in the sides of my window. I only see them when I open the windows. They've been there for a few years now.

I thought I found one in my garage and nearly exterminated it on the spot. But luckily once I trapped it I did a bit of research. Although it looked a like a false widow I found out it was a woodlouse spider. A very handy spider to have around. So I let the spider go and not it lives happily in my garage munching on any woodlouse. |

I took a picture, just looked back on it on my phone. Taking the wall plug in wall on the photo as reference I'd say about 1.5cm long. |

I wouldn't be so hasty unless your sure its a false widow. I'm (Mr) actually pro spiders in the home. They keep many other insects at bay in the home. Although it's fair to Mrs Misfit doesn't agree with me on this policy. |

I used to live in Vegas and when I'd walk home at night I'd see loads of black widow spiders just chilling on their webs. My false widows eat the Harlequin ladybirds that hibernate in my window cracks. They started to look a bit more orangey due to their diet but this year's batch are the usual black and white ones. |

"How dangerous are these buggers?"
It depends on your reaction to them. I got some bites a few weeks back but assumed they were mossies. I scratched the hell out of them and they got infected. Then I found some F/W spiderlings on my bed so it could have been them.
