Absolutely nothing wrong with being an escort, as it's just another job/way of earning an income. No one is getting hurt, and it's better for someone who's decent, healthy etc to be doing this, than things being pushed more into the shadows etc.

I'd check out the competition, see what they offer, pricing etc. If you work through an agency, obviously they will take a cut, but may provide some clients. Your available market will vary according to where you're based or prepared to travel, if you're not doing remote, internet type work.
Your ideal clients are richer and prepared to pay more, but there are less of these in the general population. Consider whether you're able to make love with people that you don't find particularly attractive - in this case, the money has to be the aphrodisiac, and what it will buy you. If you have friends in a similar line of work, in other areas, then you may be able to offer accommodation to clients are lower rates.
Overall, the higher profit, from the fees charged, will be higher if you find your clients yourself, and they're local to you. Research the market, what's wanted, income potential and how you'd market yourself to earn etc, as well as how you fit other's needs from services.
