So I was watching today's episode of Love Island, and I was outraged by what I was seeing. One of the contestants, Faye, verbally abused, enotionally degraded and attacked one of the other contestants, Teddy. These two were involved with eachother initially, but Faye broke things off because Teddy found another girl sexually attracted. WOW I know right.
I believe that the producers of the show shouldve stepped in to stop this, rather than just air it for entertainment. Its no suprise that people come out of these shows with mental health issues and the need for counselling and help.
Secondly, none of Faye's friends, the girls in the villa stepped in to resolve the situation and tell Faye that she was bang out of order. Any boy that tried to talk to Faye and calm her down would also get verbally abused.
What I want to know is, do you think that if it was a man insulting and verbally abusing a woman on live TV, would it be deemed as okay and entertainment? I reckon if it was a man doing this, he would be stopped and disciplined straight away. In my honest opinion, I feel as though there is a huge double standard in this matter!
What do you guys think? |

100 % agree if it was a man there would be uproar, also people s mental health is at risk. Do the producers forget what happened to Caroline flack mental health issues |

Fuck that programme. I don't watch it never have. But I heard that mouthy (politley putting) women on there. The thing with her none of the (boys) in there, cause let's face it none can be men. Not one person stood up for themselves so she carried on. Man or women I would never let anybody talk to me like that, she needed shutting down!! |

"Sugar, there is me thinking it was an, “I want to be a celebrity” game.
I wont lie, it is the pinnacle of rubbish TV
Doesnt stop me from watching the crap though!"
Totally agree.
Think the psychologists create fantastic scenarios that echo some human behaviour.
Then people engage and project from their own experience and make it real.
The surface structure, as you say is trash.
What is underlying is great, especially from body language incongruence.
Suspect I’m watching for all the wrong reasons.
Need to get back to Emmerdale. |

The more I watch it the more I dislike Faye. She used Sam to make Teddy jealous and had completely overreacted to the situation tonight, I would love to know what chats she had with Dale as well that would be interesting.
I want Teddy and Abbie to get together. |

Or Teddy and Mary.
I don't blame the girls though for not saying anything to Faye. No way would i take that on. Hopefully this will be a major wake up call to Faye and she will get some serious help when she gets home.
I did enjoy them sticking it to Jake though, odious little man. |

IMO she's not quite 100%. She's been possessive & reactionary all along and something will likely come out after the show's finished. |

Yh definitely! I do like abi and she really deserves to find someone good. Realistically, Faye should be kicked off the show. But I guarantee that she wont be! |

I was talking to the TV, saying the producers should have stepped in. Teddy totally didn't deserve the way she reacted to him. Mental Health awareness should surely be a priority on this program |
