What sport/s did you use to play in school? I’m curious!
I was on the volleyball team (basically an all girl
Team) for 2 years when I was 8 and It was amazing!!
And then I did take up some swimming lessons when I was 11-12 for a year… pushed by my dad.
Then I started HATING sports and every excuse was valid not to play sports in school. If I had to, I preferred to play sports like badminton with the girls …or even better, do nothing.
Running was a bit compulsory during PE classes but I HATED it. With passion..
What about u?

"Cortney played center in basketball (she's 5'10") and played flute in the marching band. Alex played outside linebacker in American football and ran sprints in track. Yes, we are Yanks "
Amazing!!!
Love that Courtney was also in the marching band!
I gave up sports and dedicated my teenage years to the piano and did 5 years of music school on top to learn classical music

"I was in the football team, had no other time for anything else. Played for the school team on a Wednesday, the district on a friday and my normal team on a Sunday " coming to think of it I played for the school basketball team a few times but there wasn't any other team sports available just those 2 |

At 2 Boarding Schools, I played Football, Cricket, Hockey (at ma first one only) and Rugby. Also Athletics, I was a good sprinter, but anything after 400m I wasn't really interested in
I went on to play for Derby RUFC 2nd XV ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Sport was half a day, four days a week of my school life. I loved all sports except cross country, where I learnt all the shortcuts available and came in second to last every time, suitably muddy. Captain of rounders, hockey & netball, champ for my year at long jump, high jump, hurdles and 100m sprint. |

Primary school, I was on the netball team. Secondary school I done what I had to in PE but that was it, I hated it. I would of rather had 3 hours of history and missed PE altogether. |

Literally same. Started resenting it so bad but I kinda know why. |

Rugby at high school, but as most of the local comprehensives didn't have rugby teams we used to travel round the North West on Saturday mornings playing* all the private schools.

I never played any club sports in school and mostly played cricket and football.
I was part of the table tennis club though, but didn't wear the tiny shorts ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Rugby, I was quite good at it and really enjoyed the rough stuff. Terrible at football though.
However I was the second fastest swimmer in the school. But as I would never be over 6ft tall I was advised not to take it up as a full time sport. |

Basketball, for entirely obvious reasons.
First year I played, we finished last, and won only a single game.
Each year we finished a little higher, until the last two years I was in school we won the league twice back-to-back, and lost only a single game.
We were the smallest team in the league – squad of six, rather than ten.
We were also – apart from me – probably the shortest team in the league. |

"What sport/s did you use to play in school? "
swimming,
netball,
hockey,
gymnastics such as balance beam, vaulting, hanging rope and wall bar climbing,
volleyball,
badminton,
tennis,
rounders,
skating,
athletics such as javelin, shot-put, discus, long jump, high jump, hurdles,
tug of war,
trampolines
and horse riding;
Was pretty miffed they wouldn't let girls do rugby or boxing in those days, would have loved that. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"Our Games teachers were sadists - Most of us didnt enjoy sports beacuse of them. Once Id left school I started enjoying hockey"
My PE teacher was a sadist and I’d always had to do more runs because I’d slack and “cheat” my way lol let’s just say. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

We played a game called Rogans rules. Supposedly a hybrid of rugby league and union invented by the games teacher Mr Rogan
….but no one could really understand the rules so it just turned into a free for all |

ALL the sports! Apart from cross country
I represented school at hockey, rounders, netball, tennis and athletics. I was town champion in discus for 7 years and third in my county at U16 level.
Now I can't do pretty much any of that ![](/icons/s/2/crying.gif) |

Wouldn’t change anything tho, made some life long mates through playing ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I represented my school in rounders and hockey.
I also volunteered to give swimming lessons during my lunch break for local school children with additional learning needs.

Hated cross country with a passion, hated even more when I had to represent school in town and then try out for county.
I wasn’t in the clique at school but I loved hockey and was one of the best in the school but never got past tryouts because the kid whose place I going for his dad owned Greys the company that made hockey equipment.
Had last laugh though as I played for Bournemouth. |

Football was the only team I was on. I was a goalkeeper. Pretty decent too. It’s a shame my school didn’t have a cycling team because that would have been right up my street. I didn’t even hear about cycling clubs until I was in my late 20s or I’d have been competing. |

What’s the one where you kick the ball in the back of the net in a field, I used to ask the teacher what my motivation was, because I was more into drama. |

I was fortunate to play all mannor of supports as a child except football and cricket. As a fifteen year old going to a new school in the UK I was asked what sports I played and I rattled them off. The headmaster looked at me and said "hmm, bit exotic for us we do football in the winter and cricket in the summer"
Needless to say I didn't do sports in school from then on. |

I was a huge rugby player for school even playing a couple of years above me. I represented the county as school level and went on to nearly become semipro before a serious injury ended it |

The only sport that I really played through choice was ice hockey. I regret stopping playing.
It's not popular at all in the UK and so many ice rinks are closing down (especially in the south). Such a shame. |

Football. Won a cup outside of school with a local team.
Rugby - we were the first team at school to go through a season undefeated.
Rugby 7's - We won the Bridlington 7's tournament.
Athletics - I was an inter-schools 800m champion.
Loved all sports apart from cricket and that interest has stayed with me to this day.
Come on you Lions!

Rugby... Represented
Soccer hated
Javlin an shotput represented
Wrestling represented.. UK national championships gold
An then fencing... One season
Actually had an eclectic sports background.
Moved out of school to do boxing, karate and finally played rugby for many years untill an injury stoped me in my tracks |

I did netball, athletics and gymnastics (vault and floor) at school and represented the school with those.
I did gymnastics outside of school too, competing up to National level in Sports acro and rhythmic gymnastics (plus the vault and floor parts of Olympic gymnastics). |

Forgot outside school I did a bunch of martial arts. I had a wall full of trophies and was able to do mad stuff like the splits, and do jumping spinning heel kicks to the head during actual competition fights.
Anyway I had stopped doing it for a while cause moved house and needed to find a new club and found it hard. Went away for a few weeks and came back and my mum had thrown my wall of trophies out. Asked her why she did it, she said they give everyone a trophey and it's time to grow up. Told her they don't they only gave first, second and third place a trophey and 90% of mine were first place.
Ah well.
"Hurley and football (Gaelic).
They were a laugh.
Yeah especially when ya got a dig in the shin with a hurl "
I wore shinguards. nah but if you were good you got a lot of that, run toward them and they wwing their stick at you, go out of their way to hit you with the stick etc. I played when you didn't need a helmet too, so the odd scumbag would try take your head off. |

I was captain of the netball team. I liked hockey, but we got banned from playing it as the teachers said we were too violent (it was a rough school...and that was after the 3rd person had been taken to hospital, so I can see their point!) |

Netball....I was cajoled into it by a pushy PE teacher and a Dad who believed a Child should play at least one type of sport. I only agreed to it to appease the Paternal Parental figure
I was good though and towered over everyone so height was an advantage ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
