Depends on what it is.
"Love Island is great/shite" - legitimate discussion and varying opinions acceptable, because it's highly subjective.
Questioning if the Holocaust* happened or similar - not legitimate, not a topic for opinion/debate, because it is a cast-iron fact. It definitely happened.
*Other cast-iron, non-opinion worthy facts are available.

I understand what you mean but I was thinking about the so called "modern day" view.
Like, I questioned the happy birthday Megan thread, and was effectively vilified because I didn't agree with OP

I think there's a school of thought that on a thread like that, its like Granny used to say: "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
We see lots of threads about stuff we don't like (e.g. watersports, as a random example). Instead of going on the thread and answering "ewwww yuck" to the "do you enjoy watersports" title, we just scroll on by. There's obviously nothing to be gained in saying "ewwww yuck", other than to piss* people off who DO enjoy such things.
*Not deliberate. Honest! |

"Can it?
Why does it seem that you can no longer disagree or have an alternative view with anything posted these days, no matter what it is? "

As every single thread on any topic on Fab is full of people disagreeing with one another, one would have to conclude it’s still allowed. |

But if the question is "do you like water sports?" are you saying you can only answer with yes or no? |
