...it's just like General Election Night watching the news coming in about who's going where and for how much. This is the second season I've watched it unfolding and it's a fair bit exciting I tell ya!
Man City are buying just about anyone who can kick a ball, and Spurs are buying anyone. Period.
And amongst all that, Chelsea lost the UEFA Super Cup 4-1 to Atletico Madrid (it's a cup contested between last season's Champion's League Winners: Chelsea, and last season's Europa Cup Winners: Atletico)
Great stuff!

"well we spurs lost van der vaart but got dempsy and a new keeper and maybe keeping dawson and lastly we aint gooners were yiddoes yippee "
Please don't use that word. I know many Spurs fans do and I understand why but it is offensive, including to the fans it may appear to support. |

I'm not - I don't get the games with balls. Spurs sometimes asks the group I am with to sing outside to make you all jolly (or miserable before you go in, depending on how you think we sound).
Wouldn't it be easier if everyone just swapped people around? It's an awful lot of money for people to kick balls around. |

Sorry to be the one to tell you but BBC 5Live created that as a wind up to see how far the rumour would spread. They were laughing about it as I drove home!! |

"It's an awful lot of money for people to kick balls around."
It's no different for people like Usain Bolt for example, who will earn a fortune in his career because he's the best at what he does.
You'd understand wny the money in football is so crazy if you watched a lower league, or non-league match. It's toe-curling how crap they are, and then you see a premiership match and they really are a different gravy. That's why they're worth so much.
p.s. the top golf pros earn far more than ANY footballer. |

So a lot of money for hitting balls with sticks and going for a nice walk? Me no comprendi.
Someone on the news earlier said that players are waiting in cars to know which direction to take on the motorway. It's bonkers. |

"So, what's the final tally?
Why does it close at 11pm?
All this lympics stuff seems to have gone to my head and I'm interested "
On the final day (today) of the Summer Transfer Window you can imagine that there is a lot of activity with hundreds of players coming and going from all European clubs and the paperwork for these deals has to be received by 1am the day after the window closes, but.. clubs can submit a 'deal sheet' by 11pm to give them an extra two hours to submit the final documentation (contracts between club/player/agent as well as paperwork to UEFA, as well as medical reports). In cases of an international tranfer, the full paperwork has to be submitted by midnight under FIFA's Transfer Matching System.
There is an exception to all of this though, and that is for players out of contract (who have been released as free agents by their former clubs), and they can continue to barter for the best deal they can get after the transfer window closes.
Any player signed after midday on Friday will not be eligible for this weekend's match. |

You do it all again in January. Why can't people commit to where they are going to be before the season starts and play for their team for the whole year? |

The football season isn't contested between August - May in every UEFA country. For example, most scandinavian countries have a long winter break because they have few hours of daylight in deep winter, thus extending their season until June/July, leaving little time before the August transfer window closes to make their purchases. In the UK, the season ends in May and the transfer window opens on July 1, but in practice, if the season is over and all competitions a club is involved in have been completed they can start making transfers as early as mid-May. |

Been listening and following NSC fan forum since early this. Three quarters of Brighton's business was concluded in the last hour. Well pleased with the signings Orlandi and Dobbie from Swansea (they are becoming our feeder club) David Lopez from Atletico Bilbao and Dean Hammond on season loan from Southampton. We look like having a squad that can challenge for the Premiership. |

Thank you for my education. I shall now impress my nephew when he starts chattering on about all of this stuff. Then I will promptly delete all memory of having any interest whatsoever. |

We got the evening off as Uncle Alex got his business done early and told us all he was finished (unlike all the panic buyers today)
That said I think Spurs have made some great signings in Lloris, Dempsey and particularly Dembele. |
