I was listening to a phone in this week about low conviction rates for crimes. I cannot tell if the man phoning in was telling the truth but he sounded like he was telling the truth. Here goes...
He said he worked nights and got in at 7am and went to sleep. He got woken up at about 11am by a crashing noise. It was a burglar. He confronted the burgler who was holding some computer item and decided to hold on to him and call the police. The computer item got dropped and damaged in the scuffle. The burglar fought him off and made good his escape empty handed. The man called the police and one actually came round and when the man told the officer his story the officer said.. Stop Right There. If you are saying that you assaulted the burglar then I must caution you..
The man told the officer to forget the investigation... The officer said that the man could be charged with wasting police time..
The man told the officer that he was in fact wasting his time..
If true.. truly shocking in my opinion... |
