From another post, it’s clear that many of us have had their gallbladder removed.
I am curious to know if you were in the habit of dieting at the time ?
It is my opinion that intermittent dieting, yo-yo dieting causes gallbladder issues.
I’m no scientist but I have wondered if the storage of bile in the gallbladder left unused for periods of time causes the issues …
I began experiencing “the pain” whilst attending a fat club and by all accounts I wasn’t alone.
I’ll add that the removal revolutionised my life for the better |

I think they are generally caused by the wrong (bad) type of cholesterol? So yoyo dieting makes sense if you are not eating the right things to begin with, you'll keep building it up? |

Go careful with extreme / yoyo dieting.... i found this on Google:
"Rapid weight loss, meaning 3 or more pounds (lbs) per week, can trigger gallstones for the same reasons as obesity — it alters the balance of cholesterol, lecithin, and bile acids, and prevents the gallbladder from emptying adequately."

I’ve had mine out but never been a dieter. However at 30 I lost 2 stone in a month when I didn’t eat, was that the start of it who knows. Stones were discovered a year later when they were searching for something else. I had no pain or issues from them until I was 42, I was lucky and it was removed, along with 20 malteser size stones, within two months. At the time I was told I have an over active liver and produce too much bile, that was likely the cause of it. |
