Today I feel like soaking up goodness of other people. I'm sorry in advance if on this occasion I won't reply to all. I just want to mainly enjoy reading about what makes some people special

Before someone asks if I mean real or fab friend - I'd lean to real. but your pick ultimately.

My best friend is someone I can always rely on and when I cannot She will make sure I know why she can't be there for me and we make up time soon. My friend is the calmest and kindest soul I know. We never argued. Not even once. I don't need to say much and she can read me like a book, like a sister would. She stands by me in critical moments and she always laughs at my jokes..

I cannot imagine not having her in my life. And thats how I know she is my bestie. Our soulship is for bad and good, not just times of convenience.

She’s my soulmate. The only human who knows everything about me. The person I went to when I left my marriage. The one who made me smile in the darkest times. The one person I’ve never not adored. The person I currently miss the most as she’s now in France. she’s my human

And she must adore you. How wonderful is that. Knowing someone wants you around after finding out all you are made of.

Regrettably I no longer have a best friend (ie., just a friend). Right at the start of COVID I was cast aside in favour of a replacement - apparently being my friend was no longer of any advantage. I was both sad and annoyed to have been so blind and taken in. Thought we were two peas from the same pod.

Thankfully I still have some very good mates to distract me. And I still live with someone who provides me with a lot of support - just a shame that this relationship is rather one sided - from me to her!

Ah well. Things change and will improve. Got to stay positive

A true friend is someone who won't judge or question you when you fuck up. Will pick you up when you fall and dust you off but not ask why.

Be a steadying hand when you need it but allow you to walk freely when you don't, but be there to catch you if trip.

Most of all must be selfless, no expectation or requirement for any reciprocation for being your friend.

He’s my my best friend, my brother and he has my back, I met him the day I joined battalion. He’s been there when I lost my dad, when I was blown up and when my daughter was born, I call his folks mum dad and he called mine the same. He knows my doors always open but has a key incase I’m away. My 2 1/2 year old girl calls him uncle Mark. And happily falls asleep on him. We have fought each other at times but stood side by side many more times. He’s my go to in times of trouble. I was there when he nearly died and comforted his kids as they were my own. He knows more about me than my family. And always will do.

I love my best friend to bits, she's been more of a mum to me more than my own is. I know, pretty sad having to say this. I've known her for 8 years, worked with her and I don't know what I'd do without her. She's been there loving and supporting me through the good times and the bad. Just last week we met up for lunch with our other two friends too and as we were talking, she said I was her "surrogate daughter". I was very moved and it just shows how strong a bond we have. I could never be without her and my other friends as we're all there for each other no matter what x

She can sink more wine than me. She doesn’t like pickled onions and she blankly refuses to ask for a picture of my bulge. She does like me reading her my verifications as it provides a degree of amusement I have failed to achieve for any other woman in my life. And has led to her calling me “Spaff Monkey” at the most inappropriate times.

My best friend is my ex. We were together for a very long time and while the breakup was not mutual it was amicable. We still speak every day and we’ve both become friends with each other’s new partners as well. Other than my partner, she is the one person I can speak to about absolutely anything, and is someone who I know will always be there for me. Likewise, she knows she can talk to me about anything and that I will always be here for her.

I have a twinge of best friend envy reading some of these wonderful stories ! I have three very close friends I've known for a combined total of about 75 years but two of them and have never met and one is currently far away. We became 'best' friends at different points in my life and shared unforgettable experiences and emotions that I hope will unite us forever, regardless of the different paths our lives have taken since. They all know and understand a part of me like no one else does and combined they'd make the best friend ever. But I've always kept different parts of my life apart so I feel this mighty, marvellous trio suit me well, lucky me

My son is my best friend. Time after time it been proved nobody has our back more than we do for each other. Both of us have been through hell in 1 way or another and the ppl we believed would always be there for us have in 1 way or another have let us down. Now we both get the only person that we can only ever really rely on no matter what is each other. Any time we are out together and someone hears him call me dad they can't believe how well we get alone and buzz off each other. The only real down side when we do go out is I'm alway the ugly mate.

I have no friends. Just my sisters, sons, and cats.

I’m friendly and I like people, but don’t like letting them into my life. Friends are a bloody nuisance for me, personally. I dread the words, 'we'll have to meet up for coffee'.

I realise this makes me sound like an arse, but I’m just being honest.

LITERALLY know what u mean!

My best friend is my fucking soulmate too, we are known by friends, and call each other twins. So she’s my twin! We tell each other EVERYTHING, we support each other through thick and thin and we basically THINK the same it’s scary (we joke a lot saying we share our brain on iCloud) … she or I would say one thing, and she’d basically think or say the same… it’s a bond we have that is so deep. I feel her and she feels me. If it makes sense

We laugh and joke about how we’d think back at all the crazy shit we said or experienced in our lives when we are in a nursing home. The truth is, that’s how it’s gonna go lol

Actually, it means the opposite. It suggests the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Meaning that relationships one chooses can be stronger than a family bond, I.e soldiers fighting together, etc.

Sorry to be Hermione Granger. I just find that sort of thing fascinating.

Not so sure I agree, though.

My best friend and I have mutual respect for one another.

We talk about anything and everything.

We don’t have secrets from one another.

We can say what we mean without offending one another.

We have the same sense of humour

We don’t talk about each other to others

We have never had a disagreement

I am very lucky that I can say all the above about several of my long term, close friends.

Northampton Somewhere

I was on the phone to mine for an hour earlier, love that woman so much. We hadn't spoken for months but it felt like yesterday, we've known each other for nearly 40 years. We've been though births, deaths, weddings together. She's 100% the best friend anyone could have.

We don't see each other often at all because we don't live near each other anymore but I'm going to see her at the end of the month and I can't wait

I found that with certain people no matter how much time passes its like the core of us is still the same and we can easily reconnect. You are very lucky to keep a friend like that for so long. Maybe luck isn't the most fortunate choice of word.

"I lost my best friend just over a year ago, still think about her nearly all the time.. We met at work about 4 years ago and I couldn't believe that I'd found someone like her. Didn't believe someone like that existed. But I wasn't happy doing anything good without her being there.. Beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She weighs heavy on my heart and will love her forever "

My deepest sympathy. X

He's my world. I don't know what I'd do without him. He's got me through the darkest parts of my life and he has blessed me with the brightest moments of my life. He's the one I always turn to. And after a bit of a rocky year, I feel like we are stronger than ever now. I can't see myself with anybody else.

I'm glad for some fab community can serve as that friendliness pot even if it's lonely out there. I hope you don't feel as isolated here.

Thank you for all the contributions for today.

I know what you mean. I am lucky to have her, I'm closer to her than I am one of my sister's!

"I haven’t seen my best friend face to face for two years

Yet despite that she’s still my go-to person. She’s always on my side and is fiercely protective. Yet if I’m being a dick she will say so.

She’s achieved a phenomenal amount in the last couple of years and I’m incredibly proud of her.

I think it's a sign of true friendship when people celebrate the good things that happen to each other. "

I think I had more balloons and champagne at my side of the zoom party to celebrate her achievement than she did.

My best friend is Twistedbambi, we’ve been friends for over 16 years. She is by far the biggest pain in my (not literally) arse but she makes my life better. We’ve watched our families grow and had holidays together and our one common interest is all things kinky

My best friend has been gone for 12 yrs this week, but she will always be my best friend! My memories make me laugh often, and her wise words are with me every day! She accepted me for who I am and taught me that it’s ok to be different! She will always be an absolutely amazing human being even if she’s not present, even tho her taste in music and football clubs was questionable haha, but someone who taught me so much and still does! Now that’s a best friend x Miss Pc x

North West

I'm married to my best friend.

Some of people I'd considered very good friends lost interest when I acquired my disability and could not longer do the "fun" stuff anymore. I decided it was best to keep myself to myself after that. I made some ace new friends through wheelchair sports, but the only person who knows absolutely everything about me and I trust with my life, is Mr KC.

My son is also an incredible friend in many ways, but he'll never know absolutely everything in the way a non mother/son friendship would. There's some things you don't want to know about your mum.....

That's fantastic! May I asked have you known each other before fab? Or you met here? I'm slightly envious.

We knew each other way before fab. We met when our eldest kids were in nursery, and have been friends ever since. We are pretty much like family now

It is great to have a friend who likes the same things. We never have to worry about being judged and always have each others backs...even though some of my decisions haven't been the greatest Haha

Oh she infuriates me with her decisions and I eye roll most of the time. we are so similar in some respects but like chalk and cheese in others but it works

He was a top bloke, larger than life, mad as a box of frogs, could have me in wrinkles laughing, an immense cook. I miss our Friday night cider conventions. Ultimately he was a troubled man.
