any sony cybershot
7.1mp I'd recommend...had a fantastic one...its the carl zeiss lense, and fast capture.Megapixels arent everything I've learned...but 41mp in good light probably will be fantastic...the new pic DSLR types(sorta like my camera), have been 26mp.I still use my little camera as a back up, depending on the shots I want. |

Brilliant, sometimes i wish i was into photography, many years ago i had an uncle into photography well before digital cameras and he used to go across the fields and he took some fantastic photos. Not sure what there like now that he takes but they must be fantastic |

Just a question as im not that knowledgable on this. Will you notice any difference compared to 12mp unless you want massive prints? |

probably not really to the untrained eye, burt sometimes i crop pictures...(nature photography)..i might see a tiny animal( a flea for example)., the more u zoom in, the more blocky it will become.More megapixels means less blockiness when u zoom in. |

41mp on a sensor the size of a gnat's cock is probably the equivalent of 12mp on a cropped D-SLR sensor.
Depending on how much you want to spend, the new Nikon that's about £200 is an awesome compact...that hurt, I only ever use Canon (and my 5D mkII needs a new shutter unit which is gonna hurt my wallet !) |

I have been using my trusty old canon eos 300d but hacked it to a d10.
It is only something like 6.2 mp and about 6 years old but it keeps me content with crystal clear pictures although I believe its the lens that gives you the quality.
I also have a nice little cybershot 10mp which was half price at £100 which is great but lacks the control that you have with an slr . But with all this said if the lotto rolls in then I would most certainly be purchasing the top of the range. |

well I've just moved into the bigger camera market lol...i have a fujifilm HS30exr ...its the price and its zoom(30x manual optical x60 digital),I dont have a tripod for it(taken some great shots miles off into the distance at an object), its lens is just noticibly poor and can have lots of noise in JPEG(ive yet to try RAW shooting). But with software, I can achieve professionalish looking results when I crank up certain filters in photoshop/picasa (especially for my macro photography)...£300 well spent I think. |

dont buy a D5 MkIII theyre tinny and cheap feeling got 8 at work & I prefer the D5 MK II the Wi Fi on the new one is not even the same shape as the camera body anymore But it does take SD and Compact flash cards at the same time Have had to update the firmware twice too |

Ive found most cybershots are(I hate the memorystick duo thing though..as they are pretty costly)...
have u changed the capture to a sport mode?
u might want to get a better class memory card, the cheapest u get are class 4(£5 for 4gig most supermarkets)-but online mymemory.com do much better prices for better products
for some cameras they require above class 5, class 10 being the fast write/transfer speed
hope thats not gobbledegook lol |

14mp and good enough for happy snapping. |

If I can't get it fixed on the insurance I'll get another MKII, no interest in the MKIII at all. Just want full frame back, hate my wide lenses on a crop sensor now !

If you want a good all round, inexpensive compact camera, get the Canon Ixus 115, 12mp. Any more than that on a compact is pointless really. I have one and its cracking, had some lovely shots with it already. I want a dslr (canon too) but this one does the trick for under 100 quid. |
