12in cutting discs on angle grinders are a bit dicey if they are damaged and let go, if you've ever seen any grinding wheel split while at full speed you'd know that your body is just another thing thing for it to pass through on its few hundred mph journey
Nothing scares me though as I've been used to multi £million machinery and workpieces and never had a serious accident yet, its all about common sense.
Cheap spring compressors though....lethal things |

Very weary of my 9” electric angle grinder still have the slight scar to remind me of how they can bite.
Other than that nothing bothers me after 30 years in construction. |

"Electrical screwdrivers had a few belts of the mains and can’t stand doing that work now "
Big tats that’s why they say never work live unless doing live testing then you can’t help it lol.
I treat everything I do as being live so as not to be surprised, still happens though. |

Not scare me necessarily but I have a great deal of respect for all my power tools. Occasionally, if I'm doing a lot of repetitive stuff, I'll drop a bollock and it wakes me up pretty smartish. |

"Tablesaw is a fearsome beast."
I came a cropper with mine many years ago.
Clipped my fingernail on the blade, ripped the nail out and shattered the bone in the end of my finger.
Had to have reconstructive surgery on it.
Don't think there are any power tools I'd say I was necessarily afraid of.
One tool that does strike fear into me though, wether it qualifies as technically it's a garage tool, are those manual suspension spring compressors.
You know the ones?
They're used in pairs and generally, you cross your legs, look away and whince while using them.
I've invested in a proper hydraulic tool now. Much quicker and a lot safer |

Im not keen on anything that needs plugging in. I got a trusty plane out today that took much longer than a quick buzz on the tablesaw would have done. But I still have my fingers and wood that fitted. |

"Chain saw. I'd end up cutting a leg off.
Yeah but who's leg, that's when it becomes a good or bad thing "
Haha I'll be keeping clear of you during DIY I think |

Most of my injuries (not many BTW) have come from non power tools like Stanley knives.
I did mess up loading a blade onto a drop saw once and it span off when I fired it up. Luckily it embedded in the plastic guard otherwise it would have probably taken my arm off. |

When I got my ticket for a proper chainsaw, we were shown a vid about chainsaw injuries with a surgeon describing how difficult it was to put you back together if you were careless and the saw bit you! |

"I have an electric tree lopper on a telescopic pole (like a mini chainsaw). I can wreak havoc with it but I do need to be careful where I stick it."
I'd love one of those. I have lots of tall trees that need bits slicing off |

You can borrow it I have run out out of trees that need lopping. It will actually cut through @5-6" boughs. It's pretty awesome. |

There was a guy who posted a thread a few years back who wanted advice on how to chop down a Conifer in his garden, after loads of advice on chainsaws etc, he finally revealed that said tree was only about 9ft tall , ma Grandmother could have taken that down with a hacksaw |

"Had the burner out earlier with a new cartridge. I like using it but know it’s easy to start an inferno.
What tools have you got that you use with extreme caution?"

"Power drill. A great tool but it's a loud beast! I prefer the battery drill where possible. You'd be suprised how powerful it can be."
I had a drill bit bind and snap once when using a power drill; the recoil sent the power drill straight into my face. Was expecting a broken nose but got away with it. So careful rather than scared now.
Not a fan of powered cutting equipment, e.g. circular saws, angle grinders/cutters, but will use them if necessary. |

Chop saw, they're leathal. First time using one was to cut through metsec and I was warned to go slowly. A while later I went too fast while cutting and the off cut of the stud went absolutely flying up the site |

A man I worked with once ended up with a piece from a metal cutting disc from a still saw in his leg. Daft bugger was told to change it because it had started to crack and shatter. He thought he knew better. |

Is it completely wrong that I'm ignoring all the tales of doom and just imagining all you people wielding your power tools?
Also... to answer the question, I'm respectful of all my tools, but not scared to use them |

I always use caution while using power tools. I've had Nick's and scrapes but nothing serious.
One that sticks in my mind. I was in a hole fixing a botch job on some piping. I was in a bit of a mood, grabbed the grinder to cut through a pipe. It bounced off the pipe and cut a hole through my glove along the index finger but barely scratched my finger.
Never been so thankful of gloves in my life. |

"Chainsaws make me nervous anything else I’m pretty good with although I’ve had many grinder discs blow up in my face "
I remember the first time I felled a tree with a chainsaw. Big two to three storey tall job.
I'd read up on the physics of how to do it safely but it's equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. |

And I’m happy to give you a hand dear ladies, just drop me a message "

Good advice
It's also the dust the tool creates to be wary of too. Years of breathing in wood and silica dust will fuck up your lungs. |

It will, I once refused to cut through an inspection chamber ring until I was provided a dust mask, though you see idiots cutting through rebar without goggles now and again. |
