I’m thinking of getting a tattoo with water colours… I’m keen to have a brightly coloured tattoo.
People’s thoughts, would this seem more suited to a female rather than a guy?
I like the idea just curious what others think …. |

Totally agree that tattoos are very personal and you should get whatever you love!
Just keep in mind that colour fades a lot and watercolours are already diluted colour so it will fade very quickly |

Absolutely as above , if its something you like personally and like then go for it. Shop around for a decent artist though and think through the stuff you want and where it will go, specifically if it’s the first work you are getting.
Over time a lot of us look back and think , I want to change this / that. I do at the moment and removal is costly and painful. |

I'm really lucky that
A) I absolutely love my two
B) My skin has taken their colours really well as told green in a tattoo is difficult to load and often looks very washed out (in fact he has been able to do lovely colour fading to look like waves and
C) I had not scabbing at all for either, they just dried up, skin was flakey and dry for a few days then they were done.
Mine are, like many others, very personal and might not work as a standard design ( glad as had to get permission from the original artist). |

The inks they use these days don't scab like they used to. Use factor 50 in the sun top keep the colour x |

Love watercolour tattoos and I’m sure they’d look great on you. Seen some amazing artists do this style on both men and women. The biggest thing is for you to love it. In all my work I made one daft choice that’s been a very expensive and painful mistake. |

I'm a very fair blonde so only use factor 50 as soon as sunlight is breaking lol.
Used the Tattoo Goo stuff and it worked a treat and it has one with SPF that colour protects.
Lynx also did a showergel with extra Vit E in it to keep your ink fresh. |

"I think good ink of any style can be awesome as long as you're happy with it.
And if you need someone to distract you while it's being done.... "
My first was almost painless and I actually dozed a little as it was done (5hrs in one sitting) but the second was really sore (same place on forearm as first but just on right arm).
Was shocked in the difference of experiences and think the artist could tell. |

I'm just going to echo the good advice already given by our wonderful members.
Research your artist, get them to show previous work and what their styles are.
And its an investment not a time to shop around for price. If you find the artist who can really do justice to what you want then you pay their fee |

Cool. Would hate for someone to get inked on the advice from a forum
Ones I have are black, grey and white so no experience with coloured ones. Like some said above though the water colours may fade faster than other coloured ones. Plus would they look different on thicker male skin than female skin maybe?
I’ve no idea but would be interested to see the final tattoo whenever you do get it |

Think tattoos are just a fashion fad …however that’s not what you’re asking about.
An ex squaddie I know very macho, has a sleeve with brightly coloured roses. Full arm of flowers !
But as he doesn’t care what anyone thinks, it suits his personality and his masculinity. So go for it |

My personal opinion is it suits women more, coloured tattoos just don’t look as good on men. Black and grey looks better for men, with only a small hint of colour. |

My tattooist said always use total sun block to stop them degrading. But they do, so they look great to start, but never stay that way.
Every tattoo is your own choice but takes an age to remove, so is there for a long time. |

As much as I dislike the current fashion for tattoos I’m fully aware of their history. My issue is everyone seems to be ‘inking up’ these days, so diluting the rebelliousness of having them.
I have plenty of friends with loads of tattoos and what I admire about their attitude is their tattoos are meaningless. One has a tattoo of Danny DeVito, why because he finds it funny Another guy I served with, an arm full of roses ….reason just to fuck off those guys who think tattoos should have a masculine look. He’s so comfortable with his own self he can ink up with flowers.
That’s the attitude I admire, no massive deep meanings just a fuck you attitude.
I have decided not to ‘ink up’ to do the same |

Your bod, your ink,
you gotta live with it so be sure before you go for it,
but I say have it your way and blow what anyone else thinks.
Choose a person who is good at it to do it though,
you don't want to be fed up or annoyed with the results once it's done. |

You live once go for it if it's what you want.
I have standard colour tattoos
I have black and grey tattoos
I have a watercolour tattoo
None of my tattoos look any different to the day I had them done colour wise, good aftercare and taking care of your skin is the key to keeping any tattoo decent.
And it goes without saying you need to do your research and find a decent tattoo artist and pay the money to get a good quality tattoo done.
Never rush into it and the design will last a lifetime.
And if other people don't like it, tell them to kiss your arse!

I think your tattoo idea sounds great… and like it’s been said before it’s your personal choice, I had the same decision over wether people would think my next ones on my hand would come across that way! They are the two constellation bears on my public gallery.
And I think they will look great, so I’d think you can pull yours off too
Buddy.
Get it booked in and we all look forward to seeing the finished ink work |

"I've got to be honest, I don't understand the fascination about tattoos at all. Where I grew up two people had tattoos, sailors and criminals."

"My tattooist said always use total sun block to stop them degrading. But they do, so they look great to start, but never stay that way.
Every tattoo is your own choice but takes an age to remove, so is there for a long time.
Will never have them removed … tattoos are final and that’s why so much thought goes in to them
I said that until I rushed into one that I hate!!! "
Oh dear |

I think that's why I liked them in the first place |

"I’m thinking of getting a tattoo with water colours… I’m keen to have a brightly coloured tattoo.
People’s thoughts, would this seem more suited to a female rather than a guy?
I like the idea just curious what others think …."
My mate got the most amazing watercolour one. He spent ages researching to find the best artists for what he wanted. My sister has not long had a watercolour skull…but they are both suited to them and their individual style. His looks awesome on him, hers looks awesome on her. I don’t think it matters as long as you love it xx |

Have what you want. Never let another persons opinion dissuade you.
I’ve got some fairly strange ones and I often get comments about them but hey, it’s my choice!!
Watercolour looks fantastic though! A family member of mine has one and it’s influenced my decision to have one also |

A male friend of mine has recently had a brightly coloured tattoo. Pay no notice to others, it looks incredible and doesn't "diminish his masculinity" as it were x |

I feel sorry for you and people like you, who wants to make a tattoo without having idea for it, tattoo is not just a sticker or t-shirt that you should do any just yo have some. Tattoos should have meaning, be a part of you, tells stories, bring memories etc, not to be a decoration.
Remember also mate that the beauty of human being is a hairstyle, stylish clothes, amazing body art or athletic body...
Beauty of a man is his heart and soul ?? good luck in searching for a project

I’d just worry they’d fade & you have to have your tattoo re-touched up & sometimes once is enough to have them done from the pain aspect of it good luck whatever you decide OP |

The most striking tattoo I have seen recently was a Japanese style foo dog. The colours were really vivid and popped and it was excellent artistry.
As many have said above, your ink is your choice. If you like it, go for it |
