"A very apt phrase for on here, what other sayings could apply to fab"
Isn't that exactly what we do on here; judge the book by its cover? Hence why we there are so many threads on profile feedback, and why most of us put a lot of thought into it. Elle x |

"Surely one of the purposes of a book cover is to encourage you to buy it, so part of the very purpose of a book cover is for a potential buyer to judge the book by its cover. " not quite true, take the dust cover/sleeve off a hardback, the book is still the same, the contents are the same but the exterior doesn't give anything away

I get your point, but it would be difficult to get anywhere on here if you didn't reveal a little bit about yourself on your profile/front cover.
There is an element of judging on here, or rather 'assessment of compatability' - same same Elle x |

In truth I buy a book for the author, not what the picture on the front is, I get that our profile is our book cover but it isn't the whole story. I guess if we were to put it into more modern terms, it's like a trailer for a film some will show all the best bits, but the film is actually quite boring overall, others will show less, to peek your interest, or very little at all and be the most enjoyable film ever |

I do judge a book by a cover on here and that is why it is important to make your profile as appealing, interesting and intriguing as possible. No photos and a bio saying wanting to meet women and couples will never grab my attention. |

To view a picture it can be interpret by a thousand people in different ways. But It only takes one person to tell others how to interpret it which then will convert some to think the same way. |

How do you know you like the author? Elle x" I will actually read an author based on the subject matter, I will admit, I have read some shit, but most of the time I have been pleasantly surprised, and enjoyed the content.
The thread was never actually about the never judge a book, it was about sayings that could apply to fab, with no intent to delve into the contextual content of profiles |

I suspect you probably know the answer to that, I’m guessing it’s therefore rhetorical.
If you don’t know the answer to it, then congratulations on asking the random question of the day. |

He says avoiding my question, oh the irony. " it is quite obvious that I started that thread so there was little need to respond.
However this thread was about sayings that could apply to fab, and, has, as usual been over thought and over analysed, if you found this thread to be offensive then I offer you my apology |

I don't believe they are the same thing.
"I don't think I would enjoy time with that person" is an assessment of compatability based on your knowledge of yourself
"I think that person is an arsehole" is a judgement of them based on the person you believe them to be.
Admittedly it can be hard to say/ think the former without at least thinking the latter but it's not impossible.
For the forums perhaps more than Fab the saying I'm gonna pick "every day is a school day" - you lot have taught me loads.

Mr" .
There's a whole library of books! And they are diverse so there has to be judging books by covers. If everyone was the same genre, same format etc then yeah, don't judge a book by it's cover because then the smaller differences become more important. But if you've a bookshelf to pick from and your a hard sci-fi nerd are you going to be bothered flicking through the glossy gardening books or romantic novels or guides to beauty products? Or would you be heading to the fiction novels and comic book collections to find your perfect aliens and space Godzilla epic action story lines?
On fab you'll do the same. There will be certain people you'll dismiss by quick cover judgement but once you've found "your type" yeah, maybe then it's time to look deeper. If I'm not interested in 4ft tall gay men with rainbow hair and love of West end musicals and that's what they're showing on their profile to get my interest, yeah I'm going to judge and pass on that profile.
(Sorry to any 4ft gay men with rainbow hair and love of West end musicals if your on this site. No offence intended) |
