"joys of C4... adverts
might sky plus it and watch it back later, only 6 mins in and first ad break lol "
thats quite quick for C4, maybe they are trying to move the breaks about to minimise them affecting the coverage? |

I'm one of the 55% of the population who had no interest in the Olympics, so I've got none in this whatever it is either . |

I'm really looking forward to watching it. It's just a shame it is on a channel that will be interrupted by adverts.
Good luck to everyone who is taking part in the games x |

I was hitting the wall at mile 20 on the London Marathon a few years ago and my legs were giving me such pain.
A young lady in a wheelchair passed me and said "Come on not far now you can do it"
She had no legs below the knee
I have never ever complained again - or given up on anything I have set out to do.
Truely inspirational human beings. Heroes every one. Bless them all |

They also advertised for and then auditioned lots of disabled people to present and interview on their coverage. I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces and hope it leads to long media careers for them. |

I'm disappointed in myself that I cannot stay awake to watch the end. I'm knackered! And cold, didn't help waiting in the rain for the torch relay to pass earlier and it was two hours late. My feet are still cold! Night peeps enjoy the rest of the show x |

The disparity between rich and poor countries is so marked on this parade. I am finding it interesting to see what I am reading into the sight of different wheelchairs, crutches and prosthesis'. Combine that with the size of the team present and it tells an interesting story.
Then Jon Snow, in his way, throws in the little snippet that x country could not send a competitor as they can't afford the flight.
Yet the joy and pleasure of those parading behind their flags is infectious. |

It is the world we live in. The thing I find sad is that the levels of disability in many of those countries could well be greater than the countries with lots of competitors. The acceptance and treatment of people with disabilities is also markedly different across the world.
The scale of this Paralympics is bigger than it has ever been - that is good news and worth celebrating.
I am really loving some of the outfits too. |

That would be a miracle! You only said a couple of weeks ago on the "New use for sky remotes" thread you didn't have Sky just an old remote from my grandparents.
I have five cobs and 2 batted haddock what can you do with them? |

It looks all rather jolly but why do they have a huge model of a naked pregnant woman with no arms and legs in the centre of the stage? It's almost kinky! |

Reading this post and as a parent off a disabled daughter, you have all made me smile. Where as on F/book they are saying that it was very long winded. When i was teaching my daughter to throw a ball it took almost 18 months as with anything else we do. She is 13 now and yes she can hold a ball but as for throwing it mmmmm it's at her feet normally....... So if you did think it was long winded then welcome to my world because i thought it was fabulous....

It was fabulous and well done to you for your work with your daughter - also fabulous.
The pacing is different for the Paralympic ceremony because the logistics are different. Getting chairs and other equipment with people and any help they may have is what is required and it takes time. There was a lot more flying stuff and the Flame coming across from the Orbit will also have caused some issues, I am sure. |

Camaron (sorry if that is wrong)said in his speech tonight "that he hoped it would bring full awareness to all disabilities"..... Yes i think it will but there will be always some that don't... |

3/10 for the save but you did say 'might' sky plus it not have got grandparents to do it. Might implies no decision made yet not preplanned issues. No I don't note every post you make far from it but I have a fantastic nose a very good memory for trivial things that don't make sense and I was also brought up next to a farm. |

These games will push some boundaries and challenge peoples thoughts over disabilities.
and I think that will be a positive thing
The opening ceremony was great and I'm looking forward to seeing the events tomorrow

the guy without legs was one of the highlights of the whole event, and the Alison Lapper sculpture being centre stage was an inspired choice..
awesome..
