Scientists have taken a gene associated with obesity in humans and inserted into rice and potatoes and the crops are 50% larger. Soon even our potatoes will contain human RNA. My worry. Will these Frankenstein foods make us even fatter... |

Just because the food is 50% bigger, doesn't mean you have to eat 50% more. Similarly, if one wants to lose weight on a budget, eat 50% less. |

Link please, OP. Genetically modified potatoes that employ RNA interference to silence genes associated with potato blight have been around for ages. Are you referring to something different? RNA interference involves using a gene's own sequence to silence it.
DNA (and RNA) is universal. Human, plant, animal, fungal, bacterial or viral, DNA and RNA is made from exactly the same molecules (nucleotides). All that is different between different organisms is the sequence of the nucleotides and how many of them make up the genome.

"No but soon we know that potato growers will inject human genes into their potatoes
Buyer beware
Vegan beware "
Link? Evidence? Does it matter? Human genes are made of exactly the same thing as potato genes and we share quite a lot of the same sequences. |
