Not in the traditional sense but yes.
Work for myself and I'm permanently at the end of the phone for some of my clients, if they call me I get paid.
Don't get called often but it's a nice earner. |

No. I've been doing extra work (unpaid) most the evening if that makes you feel any better?
Just retired to the sofa and don't plan to move for a few hours.

Yes - I have to do 1 week in every 3. I basically start work at 9am Monday and don't get to 'turn off till Monday the following week at 5pm.
I am the first point of call for any IT issues for the whole company - it is supposed to be for emergencies but people's idea of an emergency varies wildly!!! I also have to do my normal working hours even if I get called in the middle of the night. No drinking as I may have to drive and am officially under the drink/drugs policy and going out isn't worth it as I can almost guarantee I will get a call in the middle of a film or meal.
It sucks ass big time but part of the job I do and enjoy.

"Our managers on the raiway do this then their normal work as well. "
Funny you should say that, I’m late turn on call for a railway company as we speak. 7 days of 3pm to 3am, on my way home hoping I don’t get called back out again. Keep you fingers crossed for me |

I did 20 years on call
The pay for the inconvenience of being woken several times a night was 'included in my salary'
My ex Mrs did 'on call' too, so we did 8 years of pretty much not getting a full nights sleep - if it wasn't my phone going off it was hers |
