Phat Ass White Girl.
From the spelling I guess the term originated in America.
Do people find it derogatory?
Usually the word Fat is not used in a complimentary way when describing people, (I wonder if that's why they've corrupted it to Phat?) but most of the people I've seen described as PAWGs usually just have big hips or bums, both of which can be very attractive.
What's your thoughts? An insult or just a term for a big hip/bum girl?

I’ve seen some embrace it and others will dislike it. Maybe the thought is that spelling it Phat differentiates if from Fat and is supposed to be positive but who knows |

Quite right Liam, but not at all what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about whether people think the term is derogatory and in my mind I was thinking about when it's applied to someone else rather than how people self describe.
Thanks for joining in all the same.

Phat only resembles 'fat' phonetically, their meanings are totally different.
Also 'fat' shouldn't be a derogatory term and that is starting to change. I (F) openly admit I am fat. It's up to the individual whether or not they see it as a positive or a negative or whether or not they find fat women attractive. For me and many other people (of all genders) it just 'is'. It only becomes an insult if I take offence to it and I don't. It's just stating a fact, like telling me I have brown hair.

Gbat" I guess it's just the same as BBC, both could be offensive but are used either way |

"I'm fat with a very big white arse "
I'm guessing that's KinkyKat?
Do you describe yourself as a PAWG?
If you don't, then would you in the future?
If somebody else described you as a PAWG would you think it was demeaning or insulting, or wouldn't it bother you?
(I know you don't speak for all the people in the world, I'm just curious on what people think!).

Which bit of that would anyone think was offensive? I suppose if it were said in a sneering way, but that could apply to pretty much any phrase!

Was offended first time was called it as a in a club and we’d had a few so took it the wrong way. Soon realised the meaning though and fine with it now….if the shoe fits! X |

Thanks for answering.
Looking at your profile pics I wouldn't have described you as PAWG.
For the sake of clarity, I like a big set of hips/bum especially in a doggie style pic. I like your bum too, but for me I wouldn't have said it was in the PAWG range.

I have Phat Farm shirts from back in the day. Phat was a positive adjective and a quick Google would have saved you. Here is an extract from an online dictionary.

(slang, music) Rich in texture, prominent.
The song has a phat bass line.
adjective.
I suspect the PAWG thing is a reaction to the Bridget Jones and 2000s thing of " Does my bum look big in this". In America models and cheerleaders had very slim buttucks.
Back in the day I never understood the negativity around a woman having a big arse. My own view is that the PAWG phenomena has helped some women with curves appreciate their curves in a way that did not happen before.
The BBC thing comes from another place, and I am not getting into that. I suggest as I did above, do your research and not assume.

I think that if a person is only being considered because they've got a BBC they could feel like a piece of meat and be offended |

The terms only come up if your in the neighbourhood if you know what i mean.
I wouldn't use the words phat or sick personally.
Language can both include and exclude.
I have a thing about language and it's uses/impact, I'm chic geek |
