Don't you just hate them!!!
They obviously don't work for a living, spend 24 hrs a day on the site and must have a 'watch list' the size of a friends list on a single 24 y/o bisexual female's profile (who strangely after over a year on site still has no veri's!!).
5 times this week it's happened! I've recieved the helpful 'item ending soon' message, checked to see in still winning and gone to make a cup of tea/stare out of the window at the hot girl across the street/have a piss/ have a quick perve on fab - and lo and behold - with 3 seconds left on the auction and not enough time to up my bid - some utter, utter bastard goes and pips me at the post!
By 5 sodding pence!
Wankers!!!!!
How am I ever gonna get the full set of ltd edition 1986 world cup kinder egg toys with these heartless bastards stalking me like wolves after a baby deer bouncing along through the woods looking all cute and fluffy!
I give up!!!! |

I'm sure they just keep relisting every item they outbid me on!!!
I'll show em!!! I'll just put my max bids at a million pounds every time!!
Ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaar! (evil laugh!) |

I get my work suits from ebay. There's always guys who'll buy a new suit for a wedding, christening or funeral, wear it once and put it in the wardrobe. The next time they get it out, it's too small, lol.
I rarely pay more than £40 for a nearly new suit. I only buy Marks & Sparks Italian collection, and I'm well happy |

I had it happen to me a few times. I bid on this really unusual headscarf, the bid was lasting for a further 3 days. I felt safe as thought the item may be uninteresting to many.
I was winning right up to the last 6 seconds and then some sod, with a verification score in their thousands, beat me to it.
So now I try and be as clever, if you can't beat em join em. I put things in my watch list and have managed to get my bid in at 5 seconds.
Don't bid too early beforehand, you can't let them think you are interested in an item, type your amount and press ok a minute before, then you only have to press the confirm box.
I did a very risky thing once, I bid on a pair of vintage lace gloves and I really wanted them as they would go with my friends wedding outfit perfectly. I did the stealth sniper act and put £50 for a £4.99 item. It was scary cos I just hoped that the original bidder had not put a high price as their reserve. They didn't and I pressed the confirm 6 seconds before to ensure they didn't have time. Thankfyully I only paid £6 for the item.
I guess its a form of gambling but it is fun |

Yes, there's some very easy to use sniping websites out there. I've used them in the past myself.
All you can do is enter you maximum bid.
It's hard to figure out what that is sometimes, but if you think it's £20, ask yourself will you kick yourself if someone bids £20.20 and wins over you.
Then just up it until you think, hell no.

My tip (apart from bidding with less then 5 seconds to go of course) is never bidding whole numbers ie not £15 or £20 but instead put. £15.03 or £20.07 as example
Most people like to nice easy figures. I win lots with this tactic x

Confirmed sniper here
Love watching it count down those last few seconds before pressing bid - sometimes win, sometimes lose. If you put your maximum bid into ebay it will list only your next winning amount, and increase it automatically until you reach your limit. |

Oh yes that is one of mine, although don 't really bid, more of a seller, but uneven numbers tend to fool others.
I can bid within 5 secs, and so balls to the sniping tool haha

I don't buy much from ebay now but I do sometimes use a sniping site when I do. It means I don't have to remember when the auction ends and check it.
The same tools are available to everyone so it seems daft to me to not use them then complain when beaten by those who do. |

"Once when bidding for something, the screen actually went bang with a puff of smoke two minutes before the auction closed. It was four days before I found out I had won"
Was that when the bag of mixed used underwear dropped through your letterbox?? |

I use the bid sniping app. It's really easy,I see something i want, decide on my max price and then enter it into the app and it automatically bids 5 secs from the end of the auction. Takes the buzz out of the last minute of doing it manually though but i've had good results using the app. |

I just think that there'll always be another item the same listed another day, probably ending at stupid o clock when no-one else will bid possibly priced less after all the plebs have forked out bigtime and the novelty has worn off...
For those that like to win, let them have their fun - they're paying for it!

it does not matter if some one uses the sniper tool when I am bidding on soemthing, because I know what my maximum bid will be before I even start looking, then I wait till the last few seconds and bid my max amount, if i get beat then so be it I was never going to bid more anyways.

someone i know sells laptops on ebay and if they are not going for the price they want they get friends to bid on them.
that way they get to keep the laptop and agree after the auction had ended to end the transaction.
happens a lot on ebay and sadly like anything is open to abuse.
i do sell on ebay when i have a clear out of items and have made a fair bit of money but i play it fair.
some things you make on and some you don't. |

I am a sniper and proud of it. I win prob 95% of the time, as said before I decide what is the maximum i am willing to pay, if someone bids over that...good luck to em. another one will come up later. the snipe tool i use lets you have 5 free bids a week and snipes 8 secs from end of auction. I pay a membership fee of $5.99 a month which gives unlimited snipes and comes in 5 secs from end of auction. Absolutely brilliant. |
