"Not surprised in the slightest.
Nor me. But ya know, us women are complaining about trivial stuff and should see it as a compliment "
Well the menfolk understand women better than we do....
Must be lovely being stuck in a hotel and having hot and sweaty men leering at them. |

I read the BBC News site...... It sounds pretty bad.
Once again men thinking that if a woman is attractive he can tell her so and she should be glad of it and it might get him in with a chance.
These woman are in quarantine not prison. They are escorted for exercise and the men watching use the opportunity to make sexual passes. Seedy or what ?
The women don't feel safe and this is in places like Radisson and Marriot in the U.K. It's the security company not the hotels ...
Any minute now the 'usual suspects' will pipe up that it's all fun and the feminists are ruining things for them.....

The WTF moment I had listening to this story was, if they can't hire enough women security, they'd pair up men to "chaperone" each other.
Now OK, I get that another presence "might" lead to moderation in behaviour, but if you got two pervy predatorial lads together on the job? |

"Police are literally r*ping and mudering women. Is this a surprise? Sad but not unexpected. "
not all police.
one recently event does not mean they are all doing it.
that is a disgraceful comment to make, totally incorrect and shows what contempt you have for men.

To be fair telling a woman she is attractive isn't a bad thing, that is how conversations started. However in this setting it is highly inappropriate
The rest I agree with you |

Tough these days being a guy. I’m being guilted tripped because some guts I don’t even know are creeps!
When will I learn. I should have done something, after all, it’s only my gender doing anything wrong, and, after all, I am responsible for them all |

Hmmmmmm context is important however. No one should feel it’s ok to just comment on appearance good or bad. In the context of chat then of course. Anyone in an official capacity should not.

Which is what I said
I don't agree with not being able to tell a person they are attractive in a setting fit for it though |

"Unprofessional behaviour by anyone is just crap. Whats the point in taking the job if youre not going to act appropriately for the role? "
There's leery, creepy men in jobs everywhere. Offices, board rooms. It's not just an issue with certain job types that may or may not require a different educational background.
The worst bit about the story is the women are trapped in that situation. |

The thread has drifted and rightly so. Those in roles that are there to protect us. This was about the secure hotels originally. Imagine returning to this country and forced to isolate in a hotel and all you want is to get on with your life and get back to your loved ones. Those tasked with enforcing the rules and also there to protect you, see is as an opportunity to abuse the trust and pester you for sex or a relationship. It is not professional and it's not moral and a total abuse of their position. And yes, these are mainly men and the quarantined are often women. Most of these guards will be on minimum wage working long hours just to make ends meet. Contrast that with some police officers who are not on minimum wage but who have used their position of trust and power to do similar. My conclusion. It's not about paying peanuts. It's about having common decency to women. If I were in a position of power like that I would do everything to make them feel safe, secure and respected. And that does not include putting notes under their doors, knocking on their doors late at night or finding them on Facebook and trying to befriend them. And of course I believe that love can flourish under these situations but it certainly in no excuse to pester these women. And no. I am not playing the white knight card |
