Jazzy Jeff Syndrome, or the underrated sidekick

Listening to the great Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Even though the DJ and Producer gets first credit, it’s still lanky Will Smith who comes to mind when that lovely groove comes on.

Who or what else is the overlooked half of a great partnership? Does gin cast shade on tonic ? Does the erect nipple overshadow a beautiful areola?

Manchester (he/him)

In the 80’s there were loads of pop duo’s that comprised the front man/star and the guy behind the keyboard that needed ID for their own gig

"Andrew Ridgely "

That’s a great one JoJo. Obviously George Michael had the musical talent but Ridgely’s cool good looks were a big part of Wham’s appeal.

And often they were the ones who wrote the songs, did the heavy lifting. Hopefully they’re now enjoying the royalties from then.

Another great suggestion. Impossible to imagine EJ’s big hits without those evocative lyrics.

‘Daniel is leaving tonight on a plane,

I can see those red tail lights, heading for Spain’

Bernard Edwards the other half of Chic. Sadly no longer with us which probably explains why he's not revered in the same light as Nile Rodgers.

Wow, I love Chic but did not know he’d died. And a great shout, thanks SP.

Craig's probably still asking, 'when will I be famous ?'

Like the football ones, a lot have lived in Fergie's big shadow.

Mick Ronson and David Bowie. Brilliant guitarist who made huge contribution to Bowie's sound in the 70s.
