Only here to fix anything that breaks down but since they don’t run production at night, it’s a piss easy job

Yes but I admit we take them off when not working directly with a person.

Feeling fed up and disliked. Pretty much the same as usual when I spend too long reading messages.

Not too dissimilar to me. Factory I used to work at but now covering their shifts as a contractor with my own company. Back then there were 15 machines running, most of them old (like 30 years old), there's now only 3 and 2.5 of those are less than 10 years old. I've done about 30 mins work since 6pm.

What I should be doing is design work but I'm struggling to concentrate.

I’m self employed usually building and installing control systems and production lines but since covid the demand for shift cover is mental so I’m earning twice as much and doing a 4 day week and doing some installs on my four off to keep the other clients happy. So used to switching between days and nights now so it’s a breeze although I did just have a huge call out to reset the kingpin on a freezer fire escape door

Very similar to me there. I picked up shift cover due to Covid which has lead to me doing all the holiday cover at this site. Carrying on with my design work so getting paid twice

I did change a drive shaft last night which required a bit of spannering. So far tonight I've had a stripped thread and a stalled diaphragm pump which re-started when I cycled the air supply on/off.

"Making metal gates pal"

Tbf, if you need to do welding/fabrication in this weather then nights has to be better than days. Welding in a heat wave is bloody hard going.

Swimming in the dark is awesome. In the summer we sometimes get phosphorescent plankton on the sea around here so the waves breaking on the beach are all lit up blue and you sparkle with blue light as you swim on it - absolutely amazing

There is something very magical about it...sea swimming late at night...I just love the moon & stars reflecting on the water...it's just so peaceful too...but tonight there was just too much of an eerie calmness about it...tide was too far out also

Thanks for info on phosphorescent plankton, I shall be watching out for it

I don't know how people get bored at work

Granted, there are times where I don't want to be there / can't be arsed with it, but there is never nothing to do, your brain is occupied from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave

It's great for not allowing the mind to wander
