Richie Blackmore had some good solo's, but my minds gone blank on names of songs doh.
But he and Ian Gillian had a good guitarist/singer dual. Strange kind of woman, live 1973 new york. See it on youtube |

Gary Moore, The Messiah will come again.
Gary Moore, Down the Line.
Kirk Hammett solo in Unforgiven
Gilmour, Comfortably Numb.
Short solo, but Matt Bellamy's in Muse Guiding Light. Watch the YouTub vid where he records it, he even surprises himself, hilarious.
Special mention for Steve Vai For the Love of God and we all know that he beat Ralph Macchio at the end of Crossroads really. |

Bob James 'Angela' (theme from Taxi)
Lynyrd Skynyrd 'Free Bird'
but the ultimate (for me at least) has to be Clapton's Concerto for guitar amd orchestra written by Michael Kamen, performed at the Albert Hall in 1990.
30 whole minutes of nonstop goosebumps

Curse of the Traveller- Chris Rea. The guitar perfectly compliments the lyrics.
Unfortunately others have already commented on some of my other favourites, especially Gary Moore such a great blues guitarist. |

Lots of classics (i.e. really old stuff) here.
If you want to see somebody (sorta) new and 2021 doing this stuff, check out Cardinal Black (Chris Buck's new band). Very decent band with a good singer, soulful songs that get under your skin and the obligatory Gilmouresque solos (Gilmouresque but different). |

Prince' solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the George Harrison gig.
Stunning live playing!
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesdays Gone
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Seasons
They both have good riffs and some fine guitar work.

At the risk of appearing contrary (music is all personal taste, yeah), I’ve never found an electric guitar solo particularly “emotive” - certainly not ones with the classic head back, eyes shut “look”. That’s not to say there’s ones I don’t like!
Peter Green or BB King might be the closest thing, off the top of my head.
To me, if you want to convey emotion, instruments like a cello or violin and the music written for them are far more effective vehicles for that.
Personally, I think it’s because you have to work so much harder to produce a sound from them, that it forges a stronger link between instrument and body/mind.
Purely personal - few things are more subjective than music.
I was a guitar teacher for ten years . |

classic solos, i'd say "strange world" by iron maiden
and the john sykes solo in "is this love" by whitesnake.
modern solos, anything by tosin abasi from the the band, animals as leaders.Very tasteful.
I've always liked steve lukather's playing too. |

Blackmore came to mind for me too, been getting into later deep purple recently (Coverdale/Hughes on vocals)
My choice is deep purple - keep on moving |
