So going by a thread I did yesterday it seemed that most thought younger women just go for the older gent because of money etc etc....
But it seems most young guys want a older women because of their "experience"

I think in a lot of cases it is but of course not in every case.
I have come to this conclusion from the number of younger men who state "knowing what they want and how to get it" (which to me implies experience) as their reason for wanting to meet older women  |

This is what I get told. But I don't think age equals experience.
I wouldn't say I was particularly experienced for my age, I've never had a long term partner that I've been able to experiment with.

Yes and yes younger guys are going for experience but also cos they think that guys of the same age as the woman can't give them what they need - sadly I jest not.

Can't answer for the younger guys because I was never in their situation.
Age certainly doesn't always equal experience. I had virtually no experience until I turned 50 and lots of women I have chatted to say likewise.
I don't have the slightest interest in younger women and don't engage with anyone outside my age filters even in the forums. |

I think we do younger women a disservice by assuming they want an older man for money and status. Of course that is true for some, but in general, for a multitude of reasons, boys tend not to mature as quickly as girls so girls can find boys their own age a bit tedious and annoying.
As an "older" woman,;the younger men who approach me, say the prefer my age and above because we're more confident, more authentic/less superficial, not into drama, don't need as much attention/our egos massaged and unlikely to mess them around. |

Absolutely I can relate to this. When I was 18 I dated a 36 year old. It was never gonna work long term but hanging out with him and his friend circle just seemed to make more sense than the guys that were my own age, who I often found not on my wavelength at all! Now I'm older I'm still enjoying the 30 somethings so maybe there's something about that age group I relate to!? |

I hear you. From my teens to twenties, nearly all of my boyfriends were older than me, some 10+. I wasn't interested in "silly boys" who jiay wanted to trev about in their cars and chat shit. I felt that I had more in common with older men - and I did. |

Does anybody share the idea that it is not particularly appealing to be chosen based on the criterium of being older than the person who is seeking the older person?
Maybe I am not explaining it well but to me it is so incredibly shallow and boring... I dismiss people (for meeting that is) who bring this up as a reason.
I want to be chosen because they find my profile interesting/ challenging ...whatever or they feel we have something in common based on something I may have said in the forums. ANYTHING but just because I am older than them as I am not in the mood to teach a cub. Sorry I am being horrible here but it does irritate a bit. |

I'm naturally attracted to guys older than me, not always but there definitely seems to be a pattern. It's certainly not about money, it's about the person. My partner is older than me, my dad was quite a bit older than my mum. I personally can't stand the stereotype of - he must have loads of money, that's the only reason they are together  |

Older women have a wisdom in their eyes, sure the fine lines tell a story, but it’s a story you want to find out about. Others have a look that says they’ve had enough of dealing with this crap and they’re not going to take it anymore, both of these are very attractive to younger men who like to be slightly scared but also want a challenge. |

Agreed. And also the idea that younger women are bitchier, wanting commitment, more prone to drama etc... much like it's not true that older women are desperate and more likely to "put out", neither stereotype really holds true apart from the eye of those who say it and experience confirmation bias. You can be attracted to one group without the other being negative x, y and z if that makes sense?

I used to be into women in their thirties when I was a teenager. Never got one but the idea was hot. Now I'm a couple of decades past 30 myself and still like women in their thirties. Not exclusively, all ages have something to offer, but 30s is for most people their best age (it was mine too, fathered all my kids in my 30s), it's the age where you should still have bucketloads of libido but enough life experience and maturity to harness it well. |

For me it was about the mental image of a guy fancying me as he might be thinking, albeit subconsciously, about breastfeeding. It is a fetish that I personally find a bit revolting. |

For me I’ve always been attracted to older women, since i was about 16/17 I’ve always found older women attractive, i much prefer the company i have spent along side them wether it was a night or a day session there always seems to be something about it that gets me, and knowing that they’re interested in a younger make like myself makes it all the more enjoyable |

For me age is just a number. I'd quite happily settle down with someone much older than me as well as someone younger. What appeals to me is how we click, the attraction and shared goals if we're taking relationship. If it's just fwb then I still want to be able to hold a conversation, do something outside the bedroom together then get naughty. But thesame applies, I want a two way (or more) conversation first! Generally I find that better with older women, but I don't discount younger. |

The messy answer is that the stereotypes and cliches likely hold true for some but the range of possible reasons for these preferences (where they exist) is huge and likely to be far more complex than "money" or "experience"

I disregard anyone within 10 years of my kids ages and one of those is almost 30.
I used to get messages from young women who either wanted to "try" an older man or insisted they only met older men because they were so much more experienced. When I explained that I had plenty of life experience but not as much sexual experience they said it didn't matter as they just wanted a quick fuck anyway.
I don't engage in the forums now with anyone outside my age filters because it's just not worth the drama. |

I’ve always been attracted to slightly older men, I don’t find boyish looks attractive I prefer a more rugged distinguished type (usually). I prefer a more mature attitude, yes I know that doesn’t always come with age.
I’ve found younger men to be immature and impatient. I don’t see what they would find attractive about me so always question their motive. |

I am all over the place with age range literally 34 to 71. It totally depends on the person. I do tend to find that the younger guys don't on the whole make the effort. But when they do it can be wonderful. |

For me it's not so much the experience, more that I just find it easier to speak to and open up to older women and I feel there's less expectation of me. When speaking to women near my own age, I do sometimes feel as though I have to put up a strong front to try and impress them to the point I can't show any vulnerability. I’ve always got on much better with younger people, even in the vanilla world. Most of my vanilla friends are 5-10 years younger than me.
I am also very shallow and very few men my age and upwards have the physique I am attracted to, so that is another reason why I prefer younger men.
Happily for me, they prefer women my age. They switch to wanting younger women once they pass the 45 barrier... haha |

If men are interested in me because of “experience” they’re out of luck, I’m quite new to anything that’s not vanilla sex. I’m on sites like this to meet someone who can help me explore in a non-patronising way.
