She was previously deported from South Africa for racist language.

By the way, she was going to be on VIP Big Brother. I can't imagine her on Love Island !

She got what she desired, more publicity.

What annoys me more is that she’s still finding work, why did Seven who are running Big Brother in Australia invite her on to their programme?

Although I’ll now answer my own question, as they knew she’d bring in viewers and she’s bound to be controversial whilst residing in the house.

Are they now touting for Yaxley Lennon next ?

Either way shame on the Person who booked her and the Australian government for letting her in, remember other Australians around the World are finding it difficult to go home.

The very fact that Australia allowed anyone to travel to their country to film "Love Island" or "I'm A Celebrity" and decided that it was "necessary travel" speaks volumes for the country and the value it places on 'celebrities' like Katie Hopkins.

As we have all been made acutely aware, Katie is correct.. it is one rule for Boris and Co and one rule for us. One rule for EUFA Oficials, G7 Summit Officials (and their 'secretaries'), one rule for 'influencers', one rule for Ferguson, DomCum, Handcock etc... and a different set of rules for us.

And as Katie showed.. it is one rule even for Z-List celebs like her and one rule for us.

I mean "necessary travel" or "essential travel" in the middle of a pandemic which shuts down life for the most of us. Whether travelling to Barnard Castle or Australia... we have heard the excuses and seen the smirks. I was unable to visit my mother for 14 months. She wasn't ill and neither was I. My mum was only 60 miles away. It was the same for millions of us, yet it is 'essential' for someone like Katie to travel to Australia for some cr*pulous TV Showe of Z-Listers?

I agree we should ALL be held to the same standards of the same Law. But obviously some people's 'standards' are held differently from the rest of us. Kate is more important to be seen standing in an Australian jungle than my 90 something year old mum with dementia being on her own in a room for over a year. Where is the equality of standards in the Law there? Answer - there is none.

I believe the standards under Australian law are commercial purposes or repatriation, subject to approval by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Katie Hopkins clearly met that standard as defined by the Australian federal government.

I'm not sure why your view on UK law has any bearing on the application of Australian law in Australia.

I feel your pain. Go see your mum before it's too late. As for essential travel...

Bit late in the day now but wonder at what point it crept up on us that the euros football, lions rugby, f1 circus, Olympics, et al were essential travel?

It's been a tough and at times unfair time for many of us. Don't know the lady but I'm guessing the more clicks she gets the better for her... So why not just deny her the oxygen?

I suppose it would be too much to ask Australia to hold onto her for a while? Perhaps they could put her on an island somewhere and then not put her on the telly? Maybe someplace surrounded by shark infested waters, just to ensure that she will be safe. Otherwise she might be tempted to swim for it and end up drowning. Which of course would be absolutely terrible.

Exactly. You see the point.

I cannot travel to see my Mum for over a year. She is elderly, frail, had dementia and is in a room on her own in a Care Home. She is registered blind. She is not ill and neither am I. It is not deemed "Essential Travel".

Katie Hopkins and DomCum flout the very notion of "essential travel".

It is nothing to do with Austraian Law versus Barnard Castle Law. It is nothing to do with Katie Hopkins versus DomCum versus my Mum. If we are not all held to the same standards then it is a farce (which it eveidently is). Katie Hopkins had to fly from somewhere, DomCum had to start his journey in London. I am not even allowed to begin my journey. Nothing to do with Commercial Law in Australia.

This nothing to do with repatriating Katie...

I'm afraid I don't understand your point at all.

Australia has exceptions to their rules for commercial purposes. Whether we agree with them or not, she is being held to the standards of Australian law. (By the way, the same standards that might have seen me miss the funeral of a parent this time last year, had they not survived their months in ICU )

The law in the UK is different to the law in Australia, as they have been different countries for 120 years. The UK has different standards.

Well I always thought Farage should have had his EU MP pension stripped from him, been shown the door and not warned about it banging his arse on the way out, and been fined by the EU parliament for his attempts to undermine the institution that paid his salary.

I always invoke the private sector argument. If an employee of a big corporation had deliberately done what Farage tried to do to the EU, they'd have ended up in prison.

(Pretty sure I read that Australia saw economic growth last year, as opposed to our shrink, with less domestic restrictions. And I've done the sums - if Australia had suffered the death rate we had, they'd have had 53k deaths. They've had about 1k)

She broke Australian Covid restrictions.

That's not speech

Not sure you get it I can not find it in myself to agree with her but she can not outrage me as would live to spend time disgusting why she has her views..

But standing up for the millions of people be held under home arrest in OZ with a policy of lockdown that will only postpone the pandemic there.

If you think that breaking the law and potentially exposing some poor delivery driver to disease is a way to end a pandemic, I don't know what to tell you. Particularly in a country with fresh outbreaks and low vaccine availability.

It seems like an edgelord move to me. Like you can end a pandemic by pwning da libz, for da lulz.

It's illegal in Australia, it's a public health threat, and it's not speech. It's also not brave or clever

It's a stunt to get in news paper and highlights reflections on liberties.

It'll probably get the same response as the woman who ranted in a hardware store in Melbourne last year about her human rights.

She'd been dubbed "Bunnings Karen" by many, including the politicians, before the end of the day.

Given Australia has had much less in the way of restrictions than we have, for the most part, it's a rubbish argument.

It's also an argument that you can make without breaking quarantine and potentially endangering a delivery person who did not consent to this immature publicity stunt.

You may be correct and I hope you are but will see in a year if and when they have to open for the economy.

Yes, yes, they let so many boat people in that they declared that no part of Australian land mass was part of Australia for international obligations to refugees, and they use "offshore processing" in a tiny island nation called Nauru where they aren't subject to Australian human rights laws. Former Australian PM Tony Abbott, a few years ago, recommended it to the Tories, some of whom described it as "a bit fascist".

So it's speech to break quarantine, or a bold stand for civil liberties. Australia's miniscule death rate and economic growth is misleading, and their almost complete return to normality for most of the pandemic doesn't count. And their fascist immigration policy lets all the boat people in.

I think a few politicians would fall into the same category though?

Well I always thought Farage should have had his EU MP pension stripped from him, been shown the door and not warned about it banging his arse on the way out, and been fined by the EU parliament for his attempts to undermine the institution that paid his salary.

I always invoke the private sector argument. If an employee of a big corporation had deliberately done what Farage tried to do to the EU, they'd have ended up in prison. "

"She said opening the door without a mask on and trying to breath on the person delivering her meal was "just a joke". "

She never said she’d breath on anyone, where did you hear that from? Because I’ve just watched her 28 minute video that this kerfuffle is about, funny isn’t how the media mis report and tell lies, the public believe what so called journalists tell them, and we call her a nasty person.

Her words were she thinks it’s bullshit that she gets to go Aus but others can’t, she thinks it’s bullshit that families with relatives there can’t go but she can, she called lockdown the biggest hoax in history, I believe the main reason she was deported was because she slagged off the two premiers of NSW and Victoria.

Australia has some of the most harsh lockdowns, and their death toll in the big states hasn’t yet reached 4 figures, so you might argue lockdown works or the politicians have abused their powers.

Whatever people think of Katie she is marmite, and she even says she’s a bloody goby cow, but she has her own opinion, her whole video was tongue in cheek and a funny, she talks shit a lot, she said she would open the door naked to scare people leaving her food, and cover herself naked in oil and streak down the corridor, not sure we should take everything she says on her YT literally.

So she took a place that could have gone to one of the tens of thousands of stranded Australians as a publicity stunt? To deliberately get deported?

... Stopping an Australian citizen from being able to return home, after months of waiting and heartache?

I do not have words for her absolute depth of depravity. I hope if this was her plan, that the $1000 fine and deportation is just the start of her world of legal hurt. What the *hell*

No she didn’t, she got a special entertainment visa via channel 7, the point she was making was that it’s ridiculous that she gets to come over there but the public can’t go to meet family etc.

I’m not sure how she broke Australian law, she was joking and being silly and waffling on YouTube, yes she’s a annoying cow to many but some people need to stop taking every word she says as gospel, she also said she’d be talking about covid lockdown in big brother, so giving the Aus and UK governments shit, so now we know why she was deported, by joking about running around naked she’s fallen into a trap that the government and media can be morally outraged about.

She was deported for breaching New South Wales Covid laws.

Places into Australia, including for citizens, are limited by the number of quarantine hotel places available.

Imagine thinking that some stupid political point was worth displacing a citizen or even threatening a country's public health.

Then imagine defending that in any way.

I'm surprised and shocked that the media somehow misreported it. They are always truthful and fair.

Is she the only celeb shipped in to Aussie quarantine for Big Brother/ other celebrity outings? I'm sure I saw Rita Ora was in quarantine there for something recently.

Australian families will appreciate that foreign celebs are being allowed into the country to entertain them.

The levels of hypocrisy and intolerance on this thread are truly staggering. I have seen many of the posters decrying Hopkins' actions screaming tolerance for all and sundry, including r*pists and murderers due to be deported from the UK by plane, but they are unable to show that same tolerance for someone who just said the wrong thing. The most likely reason for that I can see is that Hopkins doesn't vote for the same political party they do.

She allegedly jumped in front of quarantine workers with no mask, despite requirements to wait to reduce transmission.

Transmission between workers and between rooms have caused lockdowns in Melbourne.

I don't give a fuck what else she believes in this instance. Don't inflict that on workers, don't be an additional risk to Australia.

One NSW minister described it as "juvenile, imbecilic behaviour", and I quite agree.

My family are in New South Wales. This isn't politics, this is personal.

That's not true, she didn't jump in front of anyone, she joked about opening her door naked to scare the workers, I guess you and many others haven't bothered to watch her video, and just take what the poisonous media tell them as fact. "

She was determined to have breached the laws.

She thinks this is funny.

I really don't give a flying fuck what she has to say for herself. I trust the Australian authorities over her. They've done an excellent job keeping my family safe.

By the way, if this is supposed to be some serious political point, maybe she could try making it without seeming like an overgrown teenage edgelord.

"The levels of hypocrisy and intolerance on this thread are truly staggering.

So what you said was false and incorrect, I don't particularly like Katie, I just get fed up with people making jakonory's up about certain hate figures that the media deem beyond the pale, and push lies about them, yes maybe she shouldn't of been joking like a teenage schoolgirl about what she was going to do, when it was clearly tongue in cheek, if you watch her video.

She posts it all on her social media. She goes on live TV and spouts her mouth off. This isn't a media campaign against her. It's how she gets her attention. Any publicity is good publicity.

You want to know the media are cancer, check out the first 14 seconds of this Independent video, they show Hopkins with Tommy Robinson about two years ago outside the Old Bailey, what has Tommy got to do with the Australian story? Nothing, the lovely journalists are unsubtly showing the two to make out Katie must be Far right, because in their world Tommy is far right, it's ridiculous.

No, I'm just saying that people should maybe get the truth from the person who actually said it, rather than believe what so called journalists tell you what said person said, love her or hate her she is a gobby woman, and you may disagree with what she says, however she should have the right to say it.

"You want to know the media are cancer, check out the first 14 seconds of this Independent video, they show Hopkins with Tommy Robinson about two years ago outside the Old Bailey, what has Tommy got to do with the Australian story? Nothing, the lovely journalists are unsubtly showing the two to make out Katie must be Far right, because in their world Tommy is far right, it's ridiculous.

In everyones world Stephen Yaxley-lennon is far right.

No he is not, you don't speak for everyone, if anything he is probably a centre left liberal."

You're hilarious

The man is a criminal. He targets Islamic trials and puts them in jeapordy. Has he ever stood outside and protested white paedophile trials? Nope.

We get it. You're a Tommy sympathiser.

In the vast majority of decent peoples eyes he's a vile piece or racist filth with several criminal convictions, he's off the scale in relation to far right but then again most fascists are..

Tommy Robinson not far right? Not racist? Not someone who has used the 'ex vet /poor soldiers on the street' in his campaigns a bit like a thug when he dosnt get his own way, doesnt accept bribes? Doesnt lie to the press? And doesnt have Britain First and the EDL ( misguided assorted patriots) half way up his backside. Oh and he has zero connections with E European far right groups too planning religion intimidation with threats ?

But not far right you say?

Hmm.. You dont know him that well I can tell!
