What you need to do with said cat is throw something big and heavy in its direction they move pretty damn fast when a size 12 trainer comes flying out our bedroom window at them I can promise!! 
Mind you I think one of my neighbours cats is fecking brilliant.
The guy over the back has a badly set security light and the cat walks into his garden set the damn thing of (it shines right into my bedroom windows) sits perfectly still til the light goes out then flicks his tail the light pings right back on  its great when I want to read in bed and hubby is sleeping
