How many on here send winks and how many respond to winks? I tend to send winks if a profile interests me as a way of saying hello rather than a message. If they wink back, then I'll send a message. What do others think?

I will send a wink and then send a message if I get one in return. Some people will play wink tennis forever unless you make the move first!

I send them, I also respond to them. It kinda baffles me as to why some members are really anti them. As much as anything else it's a good way to gauge a person's interest in you before writing an opening message that may well be ignored or deleted unread. Just as people with full inboxes complain they don't have time to read every message, a busy bloke like myself doesn't always have time to write messages the recipient doesn't even intend to read.

I never even remember to check my winks. I don’t have anything against them, but I just forget.

Damnit! Why did I send that wink earlier...

I think its lazy to be honest, however, I do thank those who send them, but personally I'd rather make the effort and message than send a wink

We get lost with the winks. By the time we’ve both had chance to have a look, they’ve got lost under a load more.

Might start sending them. Quicker to send a wink that gets ignored rather than a message that gets ignored

Visiting Blackpool

We never send winks first. We respond to about 5% of winks, some have led to some hot meets.

Exactly this! I see it as a way of saying.... hey I like what I've seen and read in your profile. I've you're interested then wink back. Just a bit of an ice breaker really.

I rarely get winks and the last few I have got have been from people in a different country who only meet locals or people who don't meet men under any circumstances or people who have an upper age limit of 40 and only meet people around their own age.

Therefore the winks seem a bit pointless and I don't respond.

In the last winkathon I took part in I did an experiment and winked every single woman and couple in the thread where filters allowed and fabbed one pic on each profile.

I didn't get a single wink or fab in return which showed that many take part in threads like that to get others to wink and fab but have no intention of doing likewise.

Winking has also become a way to let people know you've just blocked them as is apparent by many comments on previous wink related threads.
