Interesting conversation with a friend on here this morning sparked this question;
Is there such a thing as a 'good' pervert and a 'bad' pervert? and more so, where is the line drawn?
In this environment, pervert is oft used as a jovial compliment or praise, but in more real world scenarios it's more likely connected to negative news of sexual deviance. Is the divide just as simple as that, or is there more to it? |

On here pervert is used as a light hearted word and let's face it we all like a good perve!
It usually depends on if people find others attractive or not. If they fancy a person it's called flattery. If they don't, they are a pervert. Amazing how the same behaviour is changed through people's eyes. |

Yep, I reckon the line is drawn at the consent (and therefore legal) point.
A good pervert would enjoy the lovely pics/videos posted online by its respective uploaders. Maybe have a cheeky wank or ten in the privacy of their own home.
A bad pervert would stroll down Oxford Street with a camera hidden in his shoe to take upskirt pictures of unaware women. Or have a wank while scrolling through Fab's Hot Pics in a public park.

Absolutely.
Oh this hot guy came and chatted to me in the bar.
Ugh, this absolute creep tried to talk to me in the bar.
The same scenario. |

As other have said, it’s about consent.
I put pics up, so I expect people to perve them, compliments are lovely, but when people message to tell me what they are going to do to me, with no consultation from me, I find that pervy, and not in a good way. |

Consent is the obvious factor here from everyone's commments, but the one that interested me was; "It usually depends on if people find others attractive or not. Absolutely.

So, the same act can be perceived as good pervert, or bad pervert depending on our perception of the individual?
